    SK or Wright

If you're talking wrenches... I own both and use both. You can't go wrong with either... I'd simply look for the better deal on the two. Length on SK standard size wrenches is about negligible in those sizes (I have the standard sizez SKs up to 3/4. They are noticeably shorter than Wrights of...

WTF do we have to do to prevent Impact Gun overkill?

I'm a mechanic, just not a car mechanic... I know that makes most people here qualified nuclear physicists, PhD holders in psychology, and 50 year master techs. However I haven't touched a torquestick since since college and that's where it was told to me a few times in the course of my...

WTF do we have to do to prevent Impact Gun overkill?

Honestly, I don't know. It's been told to me multiple times by different people, but I don't even own a set of torque sticks so I could care less. Torque sticks to me are ******* retarded because proper procedure with them is running lugs on, driving the car a few miles, then retorquing with a...

WTF do we have to do to prevent Impact Gun overkill?

Ok buddy. Have a good night. Take it easy next time, you might stop your pacemaker at that rate.

WTF do we have to do to prevent Impact Gun overkill?

Stop going to ****** shops and you'll stop having ****** results. Not to mention most guys doing tire work get paid minimum wage. For those of you using torque sticks, ensure you use them right. Different hose lengths will result in different torque values. 25 feet and under for 3/8 hose.

Snap-on PWCS7 crimper and wire stripper owners/users, what do you think?

I have never found a combined wiring tool that I could stand to use. I have the channel lock strippers, and also a separate crimper from CL too. Two tools work great for me. If you do enough wiring, invest in an automatic wire stripper... couldn't live without mine.

    Stick vs. wire feed welder

AC tombstones are a dime a dozen... like others are said, a deal on an AC/DC is something to jump on. DC polarity gives a much smoother arc than AC can. Stick welding is quickly becoming a lost art... low hydrogen 7018 electrodes are for structural use and that argument that "mig makes a...

    Thinking about a career as a mechanic/technician? Advice/help welcomed.....

Don't get bummed, explore your options. A smart man learns from his mistakes. A wise man learns from others mistakes. If you want to work with your hands, then you should do it. No pay in the world could keep me in a cubicle. There's hundreds of trades out there that will pay you well. You...

    Thinking about a career as a mechanic/technician? Advice/help welcomed.....

Think outside the box. Auto is a saturated area, paired with the BS everyone here has said it's only going to get worse until there aren't enough techs. Heavy equipment, trucks, gensets, industrial, ect ect. If you like to turn bolts, also check out trades similar such as HVAC. There are...

Not too thrilled with my Metric Wright grip wrenches

Tell me, did this guy "get what he paid for?" Or SO defects from a factory perfectly acceptable? I don't see Snap On poking it's head in the thread pointing out that they are going to address this QC issue. What does that tell you about customer service from SO as opposed to Wright? For the...

Not too thrilled with my Metric Wright grip wrenches

Cue the "my e-**** is bigger than yours" argument right on time. Saw that one coming from a mile away. I'm a tech for the NASA space shuttle, I work 4958289025 hours a day and my tools see rusted fasteners from moisture that convected from Haley's comet at 25,000 miles per hour. If it doesn't...

Not too thrilled with my Metric Wright grip wrenches

You're the one getting played like a fool if you think Snap On is somehow "better" than any other quality brand wrench ounce for ounce. I somehow find it hard to believe that a Wright wrench will fail before a Snap On wrench. Or that some how, some way the bolt your turning with it will be...

Not too thrilled with my Metric Wright grip wrenches

I am a professional tech. I get it alright, I get that Snap On has such an awesome marketing machine it makes tech's who could not previously wrench themselves out of a paper bag think they are gods gift to the auto service industry. They did a good job, SO. Have to keep up with the Jones' in...

Not too thrilled with my Metric Wright grip wrenches

I have come to the conclusion that you are either an excellent troll or really pissed off that you buy tools from a finance company.

    I hate gearwrench

I don't like Gearwrench either, but I also don't break fasteners free with a ratcheting wrench no matter the company. It's not displayed prominently on the box because they don't expect you to put a ton of force on a micro plastic gear mechanism and expect it to hold up, and if you think it...
