    Hot Dawg hum

Thanks for the input everyone. It is indeed the transformer. I pulled the cover off and checked everything. Looks like it's about $50 to replace it so I'll probably just hold off unless it gets a lot worse. Unit seems to function fine otherwise. Glad I checked the exhaust pipe (horizontal) it...

    Hot Dawg hum

Moved into a house with a Modine Hot Dawg in the garage. There is a noticeable transformer hum when the unit is off but plugged in. It's not super loud, but I can hear it from the far end of the garage. Sounds like an old fluorescent light humming. Is this normal for these or is something on its...

Keeping Track of Parts/Orientation During Teardown

I've found a piece of corrugated cardboard works great for screws and bolts that have a specific location I don't want to mix up. For example bell housing bolts. On my cars they're often two sizes and all different lengths. I draw a crude scale sketch of the bell housing and then just poke the...

    PEX Crimper Tool Recommendation

I recently got the same one. Works flawlessly. So much cheaper than the sharkbite push lock fittings. Plus you can use it for CV joint clamps.

I absolutely love Kaizen foam for toolbox shadowing!

That looks awesome. Where did you get the foam from? $200 to do a whole toolbox doesn't seem bad. Did you just cut it with a razor knife, even for the half circles? Powerbank is slick too

    The Best Light Fixture Ever!

I did the same, my garage isn't big enough to buy that many 4' strips. Best option is get the $2 socket Y-splitters so you can put 2 bulbs in one socket and make it even brighter! They have them at home depot and everywhere else. There's even 3 or 4 way splitters but I've only seen them online...

    Garage door window privacy

I just used the frosted spray in a can. It's far easier than cutting film. Just clean the windows cut a window the size of your door window out of a piece of cardboard to make a movable mask, and spray. Two coats a few mins apart and the whole door was done in less than 15 mins. If you don't...

    Furnace Filter Cover?

Mine filter looked just like yours. I just run a couple pieces of aluminum foil tape up each side and it seals it up perfectly. I just peel it off and replace when I need to change the filter. Cheap and easy fix.

Harbor Freight 5-drawer cart picture review

I've had this cart for about a year now. It's awesome for the price!

    Akebono ProACT Ultra-Premium Ceramic pads

I have them on my M3 and really like them. Quiet, great bite even when cold, minimal dusting- and the dust it does make is like a white powder that comes right off.

Oval nuts on Sway Bar Link nuts?...

I wouldn't call them ghetto. They should be too squished to easily thread on, otherwise they wouldn't be locking. They're very common to find as OEM nuts on German cars. Most often on exhaust systems where other locking methods fail due to high temp. (Can't use nylock nuts on headers, and lock...

What's everyone paying for a bottle of MIG gas?

That happened to me at my supplier, they gave me an empty tank. Luckily they trusted me and swapped me out a full tank. The next time they gave me the wrong mix, It only took a few arcs to realize it was Argon not C25. Now I double check the gas sticker and have them check it with a gauge before...

My Amazon score - Thanks to Stuey!

Ok, for all you tool hoarders- a few pics of the things I picked up from amazon Beta sale- Body hammer in a style I don't have yet. It seems pretty nice. Locking extension as you can never have too many extensions, and I don't have any locking ones. Locking mechanism seems pretty solid. Dzus...

My Amazon score - Thanks to Stuey!

I jumped in on the Beta closeouts too. I just got them today. I'm not impressed at all. I've often heard good things about Beta. I got a set of deep offset metric wrenches. They come in a nice foam cutout tray and that's the only nice part. The wrenches themselves look very cheaply forged...

Can anyone reccommend a 37° AN flaring tool?

I have the Ridgid 337 and it has worked flawlessly. I'm not sure about the design of the others, but the Ridgid rolls the cone on an eccentric to flare the tube instead of just mashing it down the center of the tube into the die. It works very smoothly and it also has a spring clutch sort of...
