Utility or enclosed trailer for mobile repair & tire service?

The bed is doing well, the tailgate came bent ($3k auction truck), and it’s never failed. I have to rebolt the compressor and tool box down. The mounts finally came out The truck is burning coolant (about a gallon every 1500 mi) so I’ll prob be in the market for something in the next few...

Utility or enclosed trailer for mobile repair & tire service?

Screengrabbed this for reference thanks. My business isn’t that big, but 50 tires in a morning is a **** ton. We’re they mounted to the rims beforehand? My truck (2 gen Cummins) is falling apart since I’m doing the job full time. We had a utility truck for road calls when I worked at a shop...

Utility or enclosed trailer for mobile repair & tire service?

Dude that is badass. Idk even know that exists. I’m wondering if that could double as an engine crane. Just hope the bed is strong enough TBH, I got tool insurance, but I could be a lot more careful. My truck (2gen Cummins) is stupid easy to steal. That fxcker could be in Mexico in no time. I...

What kind of hoist are you thinking? What purpose? It would be nice to have one that could pull a radiator from a big rig Also lemme know what you think about the 12 v 14 for dailying. I got a cdl, so I’m not scared of trailers but I’d hate to buy something I dread driving

Utility or enclosed trailer for mobile repair & tire service?

See my last post. Unless you get steel walls, the heavy tires will beat the sh*t out of a regular enclosed trailer. We collect after work is complete- this was the cardinal rule at the shop I used to work at. This protects our company of the job is more labor than expected or if we can’t do...

Utility or enclosed trailer for mobile repair & tire service?

It looks like this is the way I’m going. The salesman showed me the enclosed trailer, and told me the tires will beat the everliving sh*t out of the walls, and it’ll be toast in 2 years. The walls are made of thin sheet metal and plywood. He said if there’s any water in the tires the trailer...

Utility or enclosed trailer for mobile repair & tire service?

I like the idea of the tools being covered from the elements. I’m going to look at trailers now to get an idea of the sizes and layouts. The dealer said they sell 14 and 16’ enclosed. Will also need room for tires

Utility or enclosed trailer for mobile repair & tire service?

That’s a good point. Do the locks not work? I have a hitch lock. Compressor wouldn’t fit in a job box but I have one for my tools

Utility or enclosed trailer for mobile repair & tire service?

I install semi tires and as some of y’all have correctly pointed out, lifting them into a pickup bed is making me an old man fast. Only thing that hurts is my wrist, but same point I like the open utility trailers (specifically big Tex 60PI) for the versatility. I like to throw my **** in and...

Slide Hammer vs Duck Bill Hammer for Tires

My slide hammer disappeared today, so I’m wondering if I should get another one or get the duck bill hammer. I’ve heard the duck bill is better for breaking beads. Occasionally, I do pickup tires by hand (17”) and the bead requires a mega-beat down with the slide hammer. Dunno if a regular...

Trailer VIN sticker tore up- need to register

I need help registering my trailer. I have a bill of sale but the sticker with the Vin has worn off and I can’t find it anywhere. What could I do to get it registered in Texas? I was thinking about getting a parts trailer from a scrap yard or looking at marketplace for like a parts trailer...

Any tips for jacking trucks in soft ground?

Had to change a steer that kicked my ***. It’s a huge sidewall and a heavy truck in soft dirt. Steer was completely flat, so I used a stubby bottle Jack (10”height) and kept lifting it by the leaf springs, then putting heavy duty Jack stands under the leaves, until I could get the bottle Jack...

Anyway to save a few $$ on a cordless ratchet?

So.. I got a fuel 3/8 with a battery from house depot. It had a little charge, so I loosened a few bolts then charged the battery. When I put the battery back in, it has low charge and only the red light comes on. I’m gonna return it. Does house depot sell these cheap every Thursday?
