    How to bend square tubing?

Cut it lengthwise into two C channels, past the bend area. Bend the inside C around your form. Bend the outside C by heating, bending, tacking...using the kurf width as your gap for penetration. One its tacked, weld completely and grind flat. The inner C will be longer than the outer C once...

    Name these pliers... Please!

Might be sheetmetal workers crimping pliers, used to crimp the ends of stove pipe etc to allow one piece to slip inside the other for a tight joint.

    Painting Extruded Polystyrene...?

Hopefully you won't be doing any welding anywhere near it? If you are then it might not be a good idea!

    How to.........Water Level?

Hey... Why can't you just measure DOWN two feet from the top of the wall with a regular tape!?!? :headscrat

    How to.........Water Level?

It should work as long as the full loop has no blockage...can't imagine why it wouldn't! You won't be able to just close off the two ends because trapped air on either side would effect how much the water column could move, thus affecting the level. Water in an open loop would move freely...

    How to.........Water Level?

Even easier!!! LoL Why climb a ladder when you can work from the ground!

    How to.........Water Level?

Just off the top of my head...could you simply add colored water to whatever height and then join the ends of the hose into a continuous loop? It'd be a little more clumsy but you won't spill a drop and the height of the water column won't be cushioned like it would be by just capping off the...

    Designing a Loft

Well, if "it will for sure need a couple of support posts" your span is the distance between THOSE posts...not the total length of the log from wall to wall. In that case and assuming your gonna space the supports at even distances, I'd say it would be fine. Naturally you need columns that are...

    Welding White Metal

If you need to ask then no...you can't personally do it with reliability. It requires some specialized equipment and practice. If its aluminum then it can be welded easily by someone with skill. Check any ship repair places that are nearby or fab shops. (I'm not up on whats around out your...

    Designing a Loft

NOT a framer but... For such a big span I'd use (at least!) laminated 2x12s at the code recommended thickness or more to get the strength of multiple grain patterns and help prevent "sagging log syndrome"...and you still might have some issues! Your not storing feathers up there either...right...

Build My Own Retractable Reel Light

Darkside...I know your on the other side of the island but PRINCESS AUTO has retractable drop lites on sale in the new flyer for $24.99...down from $34.99. They ship for a flat rate of $4.00 plus I think $0.40 cents a pound and the retractable light isn't that heavy. Might be worth a call at...

    Just a friendly hello...

from another wayward HAMBer to the great people of the Garagejournal/junkie site. This is a great place and should now get even better! I was a member here for some time prior to the new board and have learned a lot from the original members already. Never did post though! Always was a great...
