Why is a 10mm Socket in 1/2 Drive a standard?

Skipping sizes is very common on offerings by German and Japanese tools. Also extremely common at big box store sets.

    Long 3/8 KNURLED breaker bar?

This man speaketh the truth. It is odd. As per catalogue Koken's knurled 3/8 hinge handle is available as 3768N: 3768N-175 -> Knurled 175mm (7") 3768N-250 -> Knurled 250mm (10") 3768N-300 -> Knurled 300mm (12") As per catalogue Koken's smooth 3/8 hinge handle is available as 3768P: 3768P-300...

You are absolutely correct it is length of the lever.

    Impact sockets?

Depends on what price you are paying. I had some ****** impacts that have too much play in fit for my comfort. I now am trying out Sunex as the value is huge on those and people love them. How can I not get a master set if it is priced at ~$130 with both deep and shallow sizes 9mm-30mm...

Why is a 10mm Socket in 1/2 Drive a standard?

I would respectfully disagree here. But if you are careful with a long ratchet or bar I see that as a comfort options. I do that myself but am careful of how the force is multiplying. It is safest to start with a more standard length ratchet on 3/8" then go with heat or penetrant. Breaking a...

Why is a 10mm Socket in 1/2 Drive a standard?

Reason for my complaint is that using a 10mm in 1/2 is asking for trouble in most cases. You may not realize how much torque you are putting down on fastener that is seized. The head will shear before you realize you need a different technique like heat. Also for taking a 1/2 inch set to a job...

Why is a 10mm Socket in 1/2 Drive a standard?

Why do 1/2 drive socket sets start at 10mm? Yet these same sets will skip 16mm, 17mm, or 18mm. Is there really a very common use case for 10mm sockets used in 1/2 drive? Why would you possibly want to use a 1/2 ratchet or bar on a 10mm fastener? Unless you intend to break the head. Only use I...

PALMAC anyone bought tools from them?

Given you have a list, I have a question. As I have been looking at buying from the same place. If you are doing sockets then are you deciding between their regular sockets vs zeal? The zeal has the tightest fit but they are super low profile, not sure if that will be a good thing for general...

    Snug Sockets

Getting back to this since the price is so good. I really love their socket tray set but it skips 16mm and I have needed that in my last project. This is the set: https://www.kctoolco.com/wiha-33795-metric-3-8-drive-professional-socket-tray-set-24-pieces/ When you say tightest sockets are you...

    Snug Sockets

Oh man I really wanted Koken for the knurl finger grip on the sockets. But looks like these have them too. Darn this is a steal price, I will need a good excuse to turn these down. Edit: found my excuse, looks like koken are lower profile and work in tighter spaces. Haha

How does one tell Zeal line from regular line? Is the Z in the product code indication it is Zeal? Thanks for the tips! I will look at those spots.

    Snug Sockets

Actually need 6 point mainly. The 12 point was one engine job. I ended up buying the GearWrench 12 point set for it. But won't be using it again. If I ever need to do it again I will just buy the two sizes in 12 point I need for it.

Looking into Koken Zeal, found an interesting thread here. Just not sure how easy they'd be to source.

    Snug Sockets

Yeah SK Tools looks nice and I am waiting to see their Steals and Deals promise for Thanksgiving. For impact sockets Sunex seems to be priced so attractively for a weekend warrior. I just haven't heard how their sockets fit.
