Had a post in an old garage, and did something similar. I used a pool noodle from the dollar store and some extra long zip ties though. I think I had $1.50 into the whole thing. Cut a quarter out of the pool noodle so it fit the corner.

Is there any benefit to adding a plug to the lift vs hardwiring? I have a 220v outlet in the right place (wired when the garage was built) and I'd rather just add a plug than hardwire it there.
