My plan for my ESSO station is to build a place were I can go back in time and remember the days when I would go to the local ESSO (later EXXON) with my dad on Saturday mornings to get the car greased and tires changed. My mom & dad had a 1964 Olds F-85 wagon and a 1934 Ford Sedan when I was a kid. I remember one time when the '34 Ford broke down and it was towed to the gas station with the station wrecker, hooked to the sling and being towed on the ground by the front wheels, this was after he pushed the car with the big push bumper for about what seemed like a mile to try and push start the old flathead. Once at the gas station, the mechanic pulled the distributor off of the front of the motor to replace the points and then retimed it on an old KRW bench device, as those cars were not timed with the distributor on the engine. You wont see that done at a service station now. As we waited my dad would get us a bottle of soda pop out of the coke machine, which had the skinny door in the front where you pulled the bottle through. Those Saturday mornings might have been few and far between, but the memories will forever be close with my replica station.
