    Strap anchors for dyno

Its been a while since Ive posted but sometimes the only solutions to a problem are found on Garage Journal. I tried searching, no luck. On to the point. I am soon to install an above ground dyno in my garage and will need to strap cars securely to my concrete slab. I dont want to trip over d...

New concrete slab - best coating, finish, or covering?

I thought about putting down some of the cheaper rubbery type woodgrain looking flooring panels. Search vinyl flooring. They would look great and they are pretty tough. I decided not to because I am very very hard on garage floors.

detached garage internet access - options?

First off my ip only provides 10 mb/s so nothing I do will be the limiting factor in speed. I ran a shielded direct bury cat5e from my house router to a jack in my garage wall, 150 ft. Grounded the shield to the jack and to the ground rods on the garage end only. Then plugged in a cheapo...

When to part with beloved tools...

Im young and in the holding steady phase right now. Have lots of seldom used tools but seldom do I need a tool I cant put my hands on. My stepdad passed down some fatherly wisdom to me. “Never sell your tools or your guns.”I stick to it for the most part. Back to your question. Ditch the...

What did you pay for your slab?

Dont want to beat a dead horse here but I saw you are in richmond VA. Im just south of Hampton roads prices should be similar. Lots of prices for my 1080 sqft pour 9/2016 were in the 7 to 10 per square ft. I ended up doing all the dirtwork, plastic and remesh myself. Called the concrete plant...

    3/8 compression to 3/8 45 flare

Thats what my dad always told me growing up, couldnt keep my hands outta anything. I in no way vouch for compression fittings in brake systems, it actually fails inspection in VA but... I worked for a shop that was repairing rusted steel line with them “for years” until I got the job and showed...

    Intermittent compressor no-start trouble-shooting

The pressure relief valve will let you know its working by making a hissing noise for 10 seconds after the motor shuts down. It is bleeding the residual pressure out of the pump cylinder(s) so the motor has a chance to gain momentum on the next startup rather than start the pump under pressure...

    Copper pipe isn’t invincible

We considered doing that. The decision stands that the next sign of a leak and we abandon all underground lines.

Thats a sweet find for someone like you willing and capable to refurb it. If you ask my wife, most of my tools were found in scrap piles🤫

    Copper pipe isn’t invincible

Forgot to add, I ran pex with copper crimp rings underground to my garage at home. I guess I’ll report back in 50 years if it makes it.
