Insulation/heating ideas for suspended slab garage (long)

Yes, it will work. I have the same setup and run a modine heater. The upper garage is usually a few degrees cooler (I keep the lower at 54, upper garage usually is 45-50 according to my truck's thermometer in the morning). As far as insulation, I have 2" of styrofoam on the outside of the...

2 story 6 car garage without pillars

That would give a good fire barrier too between the garage and living quarters too.

    Thermal Barrier?

I see a ridge vent in the picture and since its new I'm going to assume the soffit has vents.. Why not just roll out some insulation between the trusses? It'll be easier to install, and you'll probably get a higher R-Value for your money.

Building a house (so I can have my garage): Thoughts?

I'll share my experience.. We literally just moved in 2 days ago so its all fresh in my head  I couldn't find anything really spelled out with numbers when I started either. The easiest way to explain it is if you have great credit and 20% or more to put down on the appraised value of...

    Who does this ****?

Sure, 15 years ago when TV/DVD players were a new thing in cars we sold an all in one floor console for minivans. People were buying the things, 10 days later bring them back for a refund. Found out from the manufacturer after calling them when a couple came back they had a huge problem with...

    Wheel Dollies

I have a set of cheap ones, I think the name brand on them was Larin. Same **** you'd get from harbor freight. I use them on a ~3500lb Camaro. I can move the car by myself, once the casters are all pointing in the same direction its not bad. If you want to change direction like from moving...

    North Wind on garage Door!

They've been advertising this on the local TV stations lately.. Might help with what you're looking for http://www.greenhingeofamerica.com/ It uses a spring in the hinge to keep the door pushing against the seals.

Ball Park cost for radiant heat in a new 24x35 garage?

I had just the tubing put in the floor for radiant heat, it was $3700 for a little under 2200 sq. ft. Comes out to about $1.70 a square foot. I'm not going to be using the space for anything other than storage for the next 5-10 years (its in a basement) so I'm not having a boiler installed...

Plastic permeable pavers - good or bad?

Yeah, you've got a great looking patio but I'm hoping to keep the grass back there. Because of the hill and where the shop is located, I wouldn't be surprised if close to half of the backyard would have to be covered. I was picturing a product like what BillK posted. And thank you for that...

Plastic permeable pavers - good or bad?

Looking for opinions or advice on permeable pavers. I'm in the process of building a new house with a workshop/garage in the rear. I don't really want to put in pavement, mainly because this area will be highly visible from the rear of the house and I don't care to stare at a parking lot's...

    Carpet Tile

I put them in the basement about 3 years ago over some old tile, still looks good and I haven't had any tiles or corners come up. I kept a dozen or so extra tiles just in case but haven't used them yet. The adhesive didn't feel super strong to me when I was laying them down but it works. I...

    Garage Basement Question

1200 sq feet of spancrete. The spancrete is only in the garage, the rest of the house will be built with regular wood beams and floors. I don't have a thread going yet, I was going to wait until its a little farther along so I'll have more pictures to post
