With the duplicolor product on bare steel it should only need a wipe down with wax and grease remover then a alcohol/water 50/50 mix. I wouldn't waste the money on adhesion promotor
I would probably go with an intercoat clear first then top it off with your regular clear. Would look crazy with a candy too. But if you're just going to rattle can it. I would use the duplicolor system with their wax and grease remover first.
Interesting. I've worked for Honda for 15 years and have never seen this issue on the civics. I've seen it on other models and unfortunately it usually ends with the head coming off. If you do succeed put a time sert in there instead of a helicoil
