Will be a 12' wide roll up door. Need a 12 footer to swing in while backing in because there is nice middle aged maple tree directly in front of the door about 17'-18' out or so. Need the wide door to swing in once the front tires are past the maple.
Site restraints are something that has to...
Sports cars. Right now its a C4 Corvette that isn't even 4' high. Other cars in the future would be sports cars. Not trucks.
So, yes there would be room for some ties across the top half just under the ridge beam.
Yes! This must be solvable. Talking 14'x20' footprint, not a high rise office building. I don't mean to make light, but I think ridge beam, proper headers, posts, gussets and ties gets'erdun. Also I agree, a shed roof properly fastened has no lateral thrust.
Good discussion folks! I thank you!
Yes, the ridge beam will require posts. ... and a proper header over the garage door.
Oldwizard, what do you mean 2-1/2"x3-1/2" 1/4" wall steel tube completely welded?
I'm planning a small gambrel shed/garage intended for a 4 post lift so I can get a car up for storage and maintenance. The roof design is below. Shed is 14'w x 20'd. Here are my questions.
Can these specs be achieved with no bottom chord? The point here is to have clear span for hoisting a...
I've also thought about that too. If the rest of the envelope was up to snuff, the gravel floor (while not ideal) may be considered acceptable?
I've read of many a folk who have happily stored vehicles even on dirt barn floors,....... with the caveat that the membrane is dry, the humidity is...
Thanks dudes. Keep the suggestions coming.
For the sake of the flooring question: let's make the presumption, or the rules of debate, such that a concrete floor isn't a solution. If you agree, what would you do? I'm not arguing that the concrete floor isn't the best, or obvious, or...
PICS ARE HERE: Help me get this pole barn ready for vehicle storage.
Would like to get this pole barn ready for 50% equipment and 50% classic vehicle storage. These cars are not priceless, but nice. A small handful, worth about $20k ea.
This pole barn was never really quite finished, and now...
Hi, I just mounted a new 8" sisal wheel on my bench buffer which turns at 3400ish rpm. The wheel is just chewing my bar of emery compound apart and none of it is sticking on the new wheel. My old wheel held the compound. I even tried trimming all the loose sisal off the wheel. Still no luck...
NOW WITH PICS! I'm the "The Radial Arm Saw Ranger" and I went WAY old school!
NOW WITH PICS!!!
I'm a noob, but I'm pretty excited about my recent haul. I picked up an entire RAS package from and estate sale for $80. It included a (almost never) used saw, stand, dust collector, and a number...
