Ideas on moving 900 pound horizontal air compressor

if you look at the unit from the end there should be enough space between the plate that the motor and pump are mounted on and the top of the tank to where you can push the forks of a forklift together and get them in the space far enough to where you can tilt the forks back and pick the unit...

Compressor won't shut off / low pressure from regulator

is the tank full of water? is the guage accurate ? is the relief valve really cracking at 200? what is the tank rated at ?

I think I got taken on this Kellogg American 331TV compressor :(

Those valves can be a pain to get in and out. The shop I worked in had a special set of spanners for that and they were a special tool Kellogg made.

be careful with that 50 year old tank. for sure get the fittings off and get the water and crud out of it. replace with standard schedule 40 pipe fittings and a valve. make sure you have a relief valve on the tank.and a reliable guage. belt guard needs to be able for air to pass through it to...

    Here it is!

Sorry, I didn't see that the pump came with a recommended oil type. By all means the recommended oil is what should be used. I need to read more and offer my opinion less, I suppose.

    Here it is!

use a quality straight 30 weight non detergent oil, fill it to the red line midway on the sight glass on the crankcase. Overfilling is bad because some compressors have a slinger ring type lubrication system. My opinion is that it is a Sayllor Beal copy. And it will probably hold a lot less...

    Compressor troubleshooting

couple of things might be going on first, are you sure the reed valves are seating right? Somebody already mentioned this, and without pictures it is hard to tell, but I test the valves by taking the valve assembly plate and put water in the holes the valves seal off if it leaks water it...

Anyone know what type of air compressor this is?

got to looking at the photos and it looks like a 331 kellogg. Kellogg tended to make the same pumps for years once they got a good design working for them, and it would not surprise me if parts are not fairly easy to get still. I see them from time to time that are 40 years old and still...

Anyone know what type of air compressor this is?

you can tell it is a 2 stage pump by the shape of the cylinder. It has one large (low pressure) and one small(high pressure) piston, connected by the intercooler line.

Anyone know what type of air compressor this is?

its a kellogg i believe a model 121. If you can scrape the paint off the unloader end (the bell end opposite the flywheel there might be a model number on it. Good old pumps made for a long time. highcarbon

    Help with an air compressor

if it has an unloader it has to have a check valve to keep the air in the tank once the unloader relieves the static pressure off the head. Try tracing the line from the head to the tank- lots of times the check valve is an inline type and it might look like a bushing where the line is plumbed...
