    Athol 614 date code

Yours is definitely the last one of the 4, based off the half oval cut-out right behind the manufacturer stamp.

    The strong arm of tools

Came across one of the "special" Armstrong wrenches recently. Really good condition too. Also a Bonney that very similar, not quite as thin as the Armstrong, but almost.

    The strong arm of tools

I've got a No. 1 that matches that!

Show your Indestro and Duro-Chrome tools

Indestro store display. Not mine but I thought it was pretty cool. It's an auction lot ending tomorrow. Wish I had the space for it.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Picked up this earlier today. American Scale Co. No.64, very good shape. Which I was relieved about because I bought it through an online auction based of 3 pics taken in bad light with a dirty camera lens. It's heavy, 76 lb, 4.5" jaw. The swivel base has a surprisingly smooth rotation.

    Railroad Tools Big & Small

I wondered the same thing. So much so that I even had doubts about posting it on this thread lol. But I imagine they were probably an all purpose field Utility tool. Out in the middle of nowhere laying tracks, problems arise, stuff breaks, things are needed. So likely they'd fabricate solutions...

    Railroad Tools Big & Small

Thats what I was figuring when I bid on it. I only thought that because I had gotten something similar this past summer. Also W-V but half the size.

    Railroad Tools Big & Small

I picked this up at an auction a couple weeks ago. It was in a lot with some axes and sledges and described as a maul, which i was very pleased about because it was priced as a no-name weirdly short handled maul would be. After some careful examination, weighing, and measuring, I'm fairly...

    Vintage Combination Square

Older thread but I happened upon your question today and thought I'd chime in. I use an E tank, which will often leave the whole piece dark similar to evaporust. Once I pull it from the tank I use a tight stitched buffing wheel and the grey cutting compound from harbor freight. This is after...

    HJorth Perfect Spring Winder

I have now (and saved another link, ty for that); it comes up a few times mostly as with is this, and also a pretty cool discussion about the show "how it's made" but that's it. I made an attempt at using the tool, wire got wrapped around a bolt....no better then I could've done by hand. But...

    HJorth Perfect Spring Winder

Ty for the info, and the GJ links. 9/10 I'm jumping to a thread directly from Google search, doing a quick scan and then moving on. It's kind of like running around a massive building and looking in the windows but never taking the recommended tour. I've looked over said pamphlet here...

    HJorth Perfect Spring Winder

Hello! I'm new-ish to the forum, lurked and used as reference material for a while, but this is my first post. I was curious how you made out with this tool. I acquired one recently and the idea of being able to make my own springs is very attractive. Issue is this... I can't quite figure...
