Have you thought about putting a wheel lift on the back like a tow truck, just in case you have to work on something that is too difficult to do in someones driveway? It would also be handy to use as a mobile jack. And if it is set up right you could use it as a ramp support to load your triumph!
I have an Atlas lift that looks very similar to that one. On my lift the safety locks kick in after about 3 inches of lifting. If you have to lower the vehicle a little for some reason, you must release the safety locks. They will stay released until you lift another 3 inches or so. It is very...
You found 8 job listings for 10/hr because good mechanics will not work for that! You get what you pay for and if you only want a couple of wrench beaters then that's the right price. I would personally be embarrassed to offer any one with the ability of an ASE mechanic 10/hr.
I have to agree with the brake lathe not being used as much anymore. Most shops (mine included) can make more profit from the mark up of new rotors than turning the old ones, if there is even enough material left to turn. I have checked a lot of rotors right out of the box and the machinable...
I have floor drains in my shop. once in a while the traps dry out and the smell of sewer gas is in the air. That's probably the worst smell in my shop, although it is an easy fix, just add a little water.
I have thought about doing this in my garage also and I figured that putting the sensors length ways of the car centered above the lift would be the safest way to do it.
Paul Awesome set up! I have a question regarding the tiles, how well do they hold up to metal casters on floor jacks and trans jacks and such? I would think that if the grout is lower than the tile you might risk chipping the edge of the tile when you roll something across it.
Maybe its my own distorted opinion but I believe that if you are using anything on the end of a torque wrench that it will affect your actual torque, including an extension. so if you have to use a swivel then you are guessing!
Here are some pics of my Atlas 9000BP . The truck on the lift has the really tall cap on it or it would go up another 6 inches. With a small car I can actually raise it to high for me to be comfortable working. Now that I have seen the pics of the scissor lift install, I would probably make one...
I put an atlas floor plate style lift in my shop. Almost the same set up as yours ecept my building is all steel and is 8'6'' to the bottom of the beam. I put the lift between two of the beams and have about 9'6'' to the ceiling. I'm 5'6'' tall and can stand under most all cars. trucks and vans...
Thank you Junkman for pointing out the error in my ways. Maybe I should hire you to follow me around and tell everyone what I meant to say, life would be so much easier!
From their website it appears that the manufacturer is in LaGrange Indiana. I bet thats less than 3 hrs from your home. I would be inclined to park it on their doorstep and demand it be fixed. Tell them to fix it at their cost or there will be lettering on it at every car show you attend the...
