Frameless cabinets for the basement, what size plywood?

3/4 sides and bottom/ 1/2 back, what are you using for a top? I would use 3/4 x 4" stretchers for the top of the box at the front and back and rabbit in the back, makes for a very strong box, then use some kind of 2x material for the counter top or even better some butcher block.

wife is insisting I get a chain saw, what should I get?

for a good all around saw I would recommend the +- 50cc range. I was not impressed with the stihl/ husky/etc lower quality saws and felt that it was worth it to go pro grade. it came down to the maruyama mcv51 for 329.99 (a rebadged dolmar 5105)or the echo cs590 399.99. I opted for the mcv51

    Stolen Tools

I feel your pain, Had my truck broken into years ago, they stole my portable table saw, compound miter saw, emglo compressor, a couple of nail guns and cut the chain to the generator on the trailer and took that too, had the cops come out, take the report and gave them all the serial #s to the...

    Need toolbox advice

I would go for the biggest box I can afford. With that being said take drawer depth into consideration (how far the drawer extends). IIRC HF box dimensions include the handle, so for the money I would lean towards the HF 72" box unless there is a deal to be had on a Snap-on, Matco, Mac, Cornwell...

Mr Contractor, you're fired (how to?)

Need more info to give an answer. What was the scope of work? Is there a written contract? What did or didn't he do? How far into the project?

Tool truck pricing vs online pricing

My experience has been that the level of discount a dealer can give depends on the status of the dealer. My snappy guy has been in the tool business 16 plus years, owns 2 routes and has 2 employees besides himself. He is a top tier dealer and as such has great promos. Every week there is a new...

    Cornwell tools aquired Kennedy MFG

I think this will be good for Cornwell, this means that future tool storage will be in house. We have two Cornwell dealers in my area, both are very reliable, I will have to ask them about this.

Snap On for tech student or Craftsman, HF or?

Before buying anything, look at what the school wants him to have. The school normally has a max box size and a minimum of hand tools required. This is how I would start. Tool Storage Snap-on KRSC46, it is a great starter box/cart and a great deal at 50% off and will work well even after...

Weed Eater, String Trimmer, Weed Whacker.....whatever ya like to call em!

After years of fighting with my old Ryobi straight shaft, I finally decided to buy something better. After some research, I opted for Tanaka (owned by Hitachi). This has been a great investment. Easy start, plenty of power and the pole saw attachment has come in handy. I would buy it again. Life...

So Matco is backordered on all ratchets

My Matco guy has Gearwrench on the shelf and is trying like heck to be real competitive with online prices, its killing him. He won't say it but I can tell by the look on his face every time I ask about the ratchets I had ordered months ago. Not many techs going on the truck and now some talk...
