Here are some progress photos. The cabinets and workbench are in as well as the 4x4 shelves that are lowerable. Still have some finishing touches like baseboards, pegboard, etc.
I used a roll of polyurathene weed barrier that I bought at Home Depot. This is what RaceDeck1 (owner of the RaceDeck corp) recommended. I don't know if I needed it or not. However, since I was paying for a premium floor covering I figured it was worth the extra $25. It took about 5 minutes...
I'm very pleased with my decision to purchase Racedeck. We notice no unusual sounds and driving on it has been no problem. I put down a layer of the rolled weed barrier that you can buy at Home Depot. I don't know whether or not that makes a difference but we have no sound issues whatsoever...
I would recommend that you call them at the 800 number on their website. I think that is the only way to get the Garage Journal discount. They can tell you to which product the discount applies. I know it applies to the 12 x 12 diamond and circle pattern. Not sure about any other product...
Here is a before pic, a couple of installation pics, and a few from the completed installation. The cabinets and worikbench will be installed in about 10 days. After that the baseboards go on.
After some scheduling interruptions on my part I finished my installation last night. I love the way the Race Deck floor turned out. The installation was a breeze and I made the cuts with my jig saw. I'll take some pictures and post them tonight.
I ordered the Race Deck last Thursday and it was delivered on Monday. I'm going to install this weekend. I'll try to post some before and after pictures next week.
The 2.79 is the fixed price for the Diamond and Circle patterns. The trim and corners are regular price. They did reduce the price for a pair of their snap on parking guides by $20. $49.95 instead of $69.95.
The Garage Journal discount price is 2.79 per 12x12 piece compared to the regular price of 3.49. Plus for Garage Journal members they offer free shipping. On the product for my 20x20 garage I saved $442 with the Garage Journal discount. That is a substantial discount in my opinion.
Just got off the phone with Janene at Racedeck. I placed my order. She was very pleasant to deal with. Can't wait to get the product and install. I'll take some before and after photos and post once the floor is in.
Thanks again Jorgen for your input. That little bit of doubt is starting to fade away. I will finalize my decision and place an order in the next couple of days.
Thanks Jorgen,
I had pretty much decided on Racedeck until a cabinet/flooring contractor came out (one of four). When I told him I was planning on putting in Racedeck he said I wouldn't want to do that. He said he used to sell Racedeck but switch to Tuff Seal Tiles because they were the...
I'm new to this forum. In fact I discovered it doing research on garage flooring. I'm getting to the point that I must decide and order my garage flooring. I've ruled out epoxy for a couple of reasons. I'm pretty much down to choosing between racedeck and tuff seal tile. Racedeck is about...
