What's the deal with socket adapters?

Good chatter fellas. Learned a bunch and turns out I just need a brain. Who makes the best brain? Snap-on? Just saw a bunch of posts on various websites that were highly dissuasive of using the thing. Dave, exactly the kind of work I'm trying to do. Good to have assurance! Mr. Ratchet, that's...

What's the deal with socket adapters?

Pretty much every company makes them. Specifically 1/2" female to 3/8" male. Why is it not advisable to use it? Are 3/8" sockets weaker than 1/2" sockets? What is the proper application to use these things?

Wright Tool 1/2" metric 6-point sockets?

That's some good information/debate you guys have here. Never even thought about the market focus for Wright Tool! I wonder what the cost/benefit would be for Wright et al. to produce 1/2" drive, 6 point, metric, and non-impact (sure is a mouthful) sockets. Wonder what the sales figures are for...

Wright Tool 1/2" metric 6-point sockets?

That makes sense. I really do wish they made them, though! Love their stuff!

Wright Tool 1/2" metric 6-point sockets?

That's so interesting... for such a wide selection of tools, why would they omit metric 6-point non-impacts for 1/2"?

Wright Tool 1/2" metric 6-point sockets?

hey guys, can any of you find 6-point metric sockets for 1/2" drive? I tried the catalog and no deuce. I tried their cross-referencing tool and nada. Does Wright Tool make them? EDIT: non-impacts I meant

    multi meter case....

You can get a Pelican case with the foam inserts. I use those for pretty much everything (hand tools, sound equipment, etc.)

Where can one find these picks? Rex? (Crappy screen capture)

You can find them at your dentist's office. kidding aside, the Lisle ones are pretty good. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01419LVSU/?tag=atomicindus08-20

    First Williams USA experience

I think you nailed it... I bought some new 3/8" US-made Williams ratchets/sockets/extensions and they worked great every time. The only gripe I had with Williams is that their finish isn't perfect, even when new. But who cares? It's gonna be used!

Why so few 1/2" drive 6-point metric sockets?

Thanks! Total newbie here, so correct me if I'm wrong. Aren't impact sockets not suitable as hand tools? Something about the impact sockets being harder than hand sockets? I don't plan to use these sockets with an impact ratchet.

Why so few 1/2" drive 6-point metric sockets?

lol thanks guys, I feel like an idiot. I was looking for individual sockets and didn't check for socket sets. Also didn't check stores.

Why so few 1/2" drive 6-point metric sockets?

I was looking for some 1/2" 6-point sockets, when I noticed a lack of products. Couldn't find anything by Proto, Williams, or SK. Very few with Wright, and only non-deep with Armstrong. Of course, Snap-On has a full catalog of them... Any reason for why 6-point 1/2" drive sockets are so...
