Pretty much every company makes them. Specifically 1/2" female to 3/8" male. Why is it not advisable to use it? Are 3/8" sockets weaker than 1/2" sockets? What is the proper application to use these things?

That's some good information/debate you guys have here. Never even thought about the market focus for Wright Tool! I wonder what the cost/benefit would be for Wright et al. to produce 1/2" drive, 6 point, metric, and non-impact (sure is a mouthful) sockets. Wonder what the sales figures are for...

hey guys, can any of you find 6-point metric sockets for 1/2" drive? I tried the catalog and no deuce. I tried their cross-referencing tool and nada. Does Wright Tool make them? EDIT: non-impacts I meant

You can get a Pelican case with the foam inserts. I use those for pretty much everything (hand tools, sound equipment, etc.)

I think you nailed it... I bought some new 3/8" US-made Williams ratchets/sockets/extensions and they worked great every time. The only gripe I had with Williams is that their finish isn't perfect, even when new. But who cares? It's gonna be used!

Thanks! Total newbie here, so correct me if I'm wrong. Aren't impact sockets not suitable as hand tools? Something about the impact sockets being harder than hand sockets? I don't plan to use these sockets with an impact ratchet.

I was looking for some 1/2" 6-point sockets, when I noticed a lack of products. Couldn't find anything by Proto, Williams, or SK. Very few with Wright, and only non-deep with Armstrong. Of course, Snap-On has a full catalog of them... Any reason for why 6-point 1/2" drive sockets are so...
