    The VISES of Garage Journal

This is a unimat vise for the unimat DB and SL models lathe/milling machine. The T-nuts fit into the T-slot of the carriage or milling table accessory. I don't think the were included in the base machine package, I think they were an accessory you had to buy. They sell for ~$90 on ebay.

    Lowes deals/sales/clearance

I just checked and it showed 1 in stock at $3100 after I "add to cart to see price". Maybe its regional pricing?

    Engine Cylinder Compression tester

Whatever you get make sure it has schrader valves in the end of the hose(s). They are more accurate for small displacement cylinders and it reaches the max pressure faster which you will be thankful for if you need to test something that is pull start only.

2026 Garage Sale Thread (15th Annual)

In case you didn't know, top row second item is for a craftsman die grinder. It is a holder which you can mount to a workbench or onto a lathe to use the die grinder as an improvised tool post grinder. It looks like it is missing the angled piece which is the part that actually gets bolted down...

Need a portable impact for getting off semi/trailer lug nuts? Milwaukee isn't cutting it

Is that the battery you are normally using with the Milwaukee? It might not be able to provide enough amps and maintain voltage to get the most out of the impact. If you want a new better battery impact you will need batteries for it anyway so you might be able to just buy a battery first and...

    Unknown oiler can

There was at least one other company which sold an oil can that looked very similar to the Eagle 66. I can't remember the name, I think it started with a "P". You can find it somewhere in old catalogs in the international tool catalog library. I don't think it was a simple rebranding, I'm pretty...

    Tractor Supply Deals Thread

A couple of weeks ago somewhere else on the internet someone said tractor supply was phasing out Torin products and will be replacing them with store branded jacks and jackstands. Now it seems the stores around me have some jacks and stands on clearance ~40% off. Apparently some tractor supply...

    Random SK find

    you're correct, my mistake.

    Random SK find

Good news for you then because purchasing these adjustable wrenches in no way supported US manufacturing. The last factory that produced adjustable wrenches in the US was western forge and they closed shop 5 years ago. SK was bought by the Chinese company Hangzhou GreatStar Industrial. Buying...

2025 Garage Sale Thread (14th Annual)

The feedscrew looks looks like its from a south bend lathe compound. In the compound, the leadscrew travels with the compound body and the nut is stationary screw into the base, meaning it is right hand threaded. The crossslide is opposite, with the screw stationary and the nut moving, which is...

2025 Garage Sale Thread (14th Annual)

The "mini c clamp with rod on other end" and "unknown tool with ball pointed ends??" go with the starrett indicator. They are accessories. The c clamp is for mounting to stuff, then the indicator screws into the clamp or you unscrew the rod on it and use the rod that is on the c clamp currently...

[$58-$83] 550w (3/4 hp) variable speed, reversible, sealed, brushless motors w/tensioner and controller for power tool retrofits

I bought one of these to re-power a little sl-1000 unimat lathe earlier this year after the original motor shorted internally. I've used it a handful of times and so far no complaints. Variable speed is very nice to have and it has plenty of power for me. I don't know if it is the full 550w but...

    Lowes deals/sales/clearance

I went to 2 stores to see if they had the wrenches. The first one showed a few in stock online, and when I got there the inventory software the employees use showed a few in stock and were received that day. They were nowhere to be found on the retail floor and no location so they guessed they...

    Identification Question

That is a rotary table. It is hard to tell from the pictures but it looks like a cross slide rotary table. The specific model will depend on what size it is. http://vintagemachinery.org/pubs/2459/16572.pdf I'd guess it would be worth $200-$400. Shipping would be pretty expensive and if I bought...
