Having acquired different types of sockets, how is chrome vanadium steel different to that of chrome alloy steel.
Stahlwille sockets make use of chrome alloy sockets as far as I know. However most sockets tend to made from chrome vanadium.

I have noticed some people bring the issue of chrome flaking occurring on sockets and tools alike. What exactly causes chrome to start flaking ? And is there any another material that is less prone to flaking.

Stahlwille AS drive 6 point sockets. If you buy straight from Germany it’s usually not that expensive when compared with tool truck brand and is equal if not better in quality.

I would have to say Stahlwille sockets. I would never pay full retail for them, but if you buy them straight from Germany it is much cheaper. And the quality is equal if not better than Snap On.

Wera correct to my knowledge used to made in German and has now moved to the Czech Republic. Maybe just a matter of time before manufacturing moves towards the Eastern Block.
But then again I would rather buy something made in the Eastern Block than China or Taiwan.

Now would there be any difference between a quick release and non quick release ratchet. My understating is that a QR ratchet is slightly weaker as it needs to be drilled. Would this impact any of the moving parts within the ratchet.
