Managed to find time to make the pop out legs. Pop out easier than my legs 😆.
I used 24' of 2" x 4" stud, 4 door hinges, counterbore tool & 1/4" hex set screw hardware.
I got 29" extra workbench at 2' width.
Next step, mount some latches for the bandsaw and poly it up.
$50 materials so...
spent some time restoring the bench it came on, just sanding and polyurethane top to toe. I decided I would add a flip up table for a shared bandsaw placement so that I can run the saw in horizontal or vert mode plus get a touch more bench space, I have to figure out the legs now. I used...
wiring connected and working, i adjusted the switch leg contactors a little looser (slight bend) they had too much interference when making (tight to turn).
I added a fairgate (made u.s) 6" rule that met with a guillotine and some soft setting epoxy for an easy depth stop gage. Should be all...
Awesome !. I think with the right safety protocols, why not, we teach kids far more physically dangerous things like all kinds of racing and wrestling, most sports etc
Got the keyway inn, belt tensioned and wired. I followed an online diagram for 7wire single phase with reverse wiring drum switch but it did not work (boo). So its going to take a while to figure out, unless anyone is good at these drum switch wiring feel free to jump in .... 👍
Thanks!. I was abled to get a 58" belt for $15 and it worked fine for this motor set up. I moved the head 1/8" toward operator to take out a little slack in the belt, it worked out but i will reset that and put some 1/8" spacers instead
To do : motor keyway / sand & stain on the table /...
I measured the pitch between the motor and spindle shafts it was 23". The largest pulley was 5.140" O.D , the smallest was 2.1" O.D. according to a belt calculator the o.d of the belt should be 57.47". Which is interesting as the original delta rockwell 49-172 is supposed to be 59". So i...
I levelled up the head and motor plate, just need wire the motor and power switch. I fitted the original delta 49-172 belt but it seems a bit loose.
Shes looking pretty but is a bit slack at 50yrs old 😆...
I squared the column and table up as best i could with a square, i will sweep it later. I also decided to buy an additional drum switch for the fw/off/reverse ad the motor has reversing capability which might be handy sometime. I greased and oiled everything up good and fitted the switch to the...
After using TSP paint cleaner i sprayed 2-3 coats of ace hardware machinery grey, the parts came up close enough to original.
i started the re-assembly. I used 3 in 1 rub on most parts, lithium grease in the bores, the spindle thrust bearing and spindle stroke splines, some anti seize on the...
