    Welding table fabrication

A very cheap and completely effective way to keep a welding table clean is PAM spray.

    Label maker recommendation ...

Does anybody really like the new style sticker labelers? I've had no luck at all getting the damn things to stick well. The old embossed labels stuck like, well, glue.

    Short 1-1/16 wrench?

This is one of the many reasons that Craftsman wrenches are so great. I've bent them to get into weird places, cut them down, etc. Buying the double end so you have two sizes of shorty wrenches is a great idea.

    Welding table pics ?

Big acorn table, unfortunately missed out on it's twin. Insanely heavy, still pretty flat but it's definitely seen better days :) Garage is an insane mess, barn parts, tons of scrap steel, old tractors, etc.

Is a 3/8" Drive Impact Wrench Just For Saving Time..?

I've got a 3/8 air impact and it doesn't get very much use at all. It's nice to have a small impact for some jobs, but it's generally not worth it (for me). A cordless 3/8 impact like the Milwaukee M12? Completely different story. Not huge on power (not comparable to a air impact or an 18v 3/8...

black and galvanized pipe for air lines - 150psi max?

Copper is the way to go. Easier to install (no threading helps a lot), 1/2" is rated to 600 PSI, easy to uninstall/modify and it looks good.

    Building tripod stands

4 stands on the frame of a car instead of on sprung axles is the reason screw jacks are so awesome. I have half a dozen pieces of steel of varying thicknesses, as well as some big oak blocking for when I put 4 stands under the body. Jack it up, put the stands on it and then find the one or two...

Concrete Two Basin Laundry Sink Find

I've always wondered if those can be etched and epoxied like a floor. It'd certainly make them easier to rinse out and clean up a bit. They're usually permanently grungy.

Make motor into bench buffer? How hard?

Sounds much more like a job for a 4 1/2" grinder and a wire cup wheel (cup wheels are a lot heavier duty than the flat wire wheels). If you're set on a motor, we've been using an old AC Delco furnace motor with a 1/2" shaft adapter and a 6" (? or 8) wire wheel for a very, very long time. It's...

    Pro Welders weigh in

The machine is irrelevant in this case, although nobody should be trying anything but sheet metal, exhaust, decorative stuff with a 110 machine. As long as it feeds wire consistently and there aren't any significant issues, any machine can make strong welds in the right hands. A weld can look...

    Building tripod stands

I really like these. I've been searching for good screw jacks for a while. I think the only thing I'd change if I built my own would be to use a thicker pad and mill it deeper. I'd hate to offset the weight and have the weld break, although your design looks deep enough to accomplish the same...

    Shop/garage clothing

I bought two pairs of these last year. I wear them most days (not lately, currently it's a pair of sweatpants underneath insulated bibs) and love them. It's really nice to have some pants that you don't have to care about at all. They're really really hard to kill. The crotch gusset really is...

the Nepros brand hand tool thread

I'm curious which direction they loaded those. I've broken crescent wrenches using them backwards a few times, but I've never managed to break one using it correctly. Always broken them by spreading the jaws apart.
