Safe to install an angle grinder cut off wheel on a bench grinder?

I mean, since I know a guy who had half his face ripped open by a cutoff wheel through a face shield and his nose and sinuses are still all jacked up, I'd say go for it. Ot since it's the GJ way to buy more tools, buy a Swag table for your portaband or use your bandsaw in the vertical...

    Wedding Ring

My nephew who's a machinist made his wedding band out of stainless. It's super intricate and just badass in general. It should last forever because he only wears it when they go out or to family gatherings. In my perfect world a wife would appreciate a ring her husband made for her more than a...

There's still a Local H song or two that I listen to regularly. (Bound for the Floor not so much)

105x20 7k or 10k enclosed trailer for moving and resale

An 8.5' x 24' with 5200lb axles is gold in the enclosed trailer world. A kid I help with his race car is looking for a 8,5' x 20' V-nose. I can tell you that on my FB Marketplace for every one with 5200lb axles there are ten with 3500lb. I would absolutely go with 5200lb axles irregardless...

If fixed the biggest flaw with vise grips

A lot of my Vise Grips need replaced. Somewhere I've seen new ones that have a little forged eye on the adjuster. Looks like it would be perfect to stick a little punch, or (in reality) screwdriver through. What you did there is awesome.

Value $$ of this Waterloo Box

As mentioned, the lower drawer in the top has an issue. My bet is the spot welds that hold the formed piece the slide attaches to have broken off the drawer. I had a plain-slide Craftsman box do that once years ago. I welded it back together, but it didn't work as well as it did before it...

Are the cheaper benchtop "precision" lathes worth it to have around for projects?

https://littlemachineshop.com/ I'm not necessarily saying buy from them, but there's some information on their page. I've also been seeing like old Atlas lathes on Marketplace in the 5-600 dollar range. I think there's something to be said for a brand new benchtop. I also think you'd have a...

    Show your new tool arrivals

I use the **** out of this Hercules impact driver. It's small and will take anything loose on a race car. Also use it to run fasteners snug then hand tighten them to final torque. Probably shouldn't have figured out how handy it was for trailer wheels. I originally bought Hercules hex to square...

Akktol BT-607 riv nut kit. This had been sitting in my "Saved for later" Amazon cart for probably two years. I know a few people with this exact kit so I've used them a couple times. Last week I borrowed my nephew's and broke a mandrel(completely my fault). I said to myself, this is why you...

Using sockets with the shop press?

I closed up a 15/16" impact socket one time. Thought it was the perfect OD, apparently it was slightly large. Wouldn't fit a 15/16" bolt afterwards. I feel like if it would have been chrome it would have broken or at least flaked. I didn't even know I'd damaged it until the next time I tried...

    Show us your welding projects

I've been helping my niece's boyfriend with his race car. His trailer really is a terrible POS. Someone had jack knifed into the jack mount on the tongue and poked a hole in the tubing. It also did not have proper safety chains. Had my nephew plaz out 1/4" thick brackets to A. Cover the hole...

    Black oxide hardware coating

So here's my resolution: I could get OEM bolts for $8.00/ea. They list for $12/ea. $96 for bolts that can't be seen once the bumper is installed just didn't do it for me. I wire wheeled the bolts, cleaned them with acetone, and painted them with Rustoleum gloss black that I already had...

    Black oxide hardware coating

So a lot of OE hardware is black oxide but I suppose that's more for bolts that get painted or dry locations on the car. Phosphate coating would be more what I'm after. Going to research the cost of new OEM hardware tonight. I think I'm over the DIY coating idea.

    Black oxide hardware coating

Has anyone here recoated OEM hardware black oxide? I'm interested in hearing your results mainly in regards to corrosion resistance. I have ten bumper mounting bolts for my truck I'd like to do. The Caswell stuff seems expensive, so I thought I'd try this: https://a.co/d/0f1o1m04 Then...
