    Garage Drain

Here in Montreal, they are a necessity. The garage is 36" below grade and when 4" - 6" of snow fell and then 1\2" of rain, all in 24 hours, there is a lot of water coming down the driveway. Ian

    Garage Drain

Here is a pic with things labeled. The water comes in from the driveway and drains in the gravel under the slab.

    Garage Drain

My parents live in a house (built in 1961) where the garage is basement level. The floor is approx. 3 feet below grade. They had their driveway repaved about 10 years ago and at the same time, the paving company made a new drain at the bottom of the driveway as well as a square hole in the...

Electric brake on circular saw - worth it?

Doesn't a circular saw have an automatic blade guard? Why have a brake when the guard protects everything from the blade when you put it down anyway? On the other hand, if it's not too much extra, why not? Ian

    Ridgid Battery Fuse Tab Broken

The battery works fine now. I cut a small piece of thin metal (old license plate) and slid it under the broken tab. I then filed the tab to get a bit of a tooth in it and using my 100w soldering iron and flux, I soldered it. I charged it and used it for a couple of minutes. I guess time will...

    Kobalt, husky, stanley, craftsman ...

Anything with an over the counter lifetime warranty should be good. I only buy hand tools when they are on sale, as they are almost always on sale, I never have to wait too long to get what I want. Don't be in too much of a hurry. Go to the different stores (if possible) and try the tool in...

Anyone have the Milwaukee radio charger?

I got mine (Milwaukee V28 Job Site Radio) about 5 years ago when it was on sale for $50. It is powered by Rockford Fosgate and the sound is excellent. I have no Milwaukee tools, so I do not use it as a charger, only a radio. It looks tough also. Ian

    Ridgid Battery Fuse Tab Broken

I found this on the Ridgid site... The 3 Year Limited Warranty, The Recon Limited Warranty and the lifetime Service Agreement covers all worn parts in properly maintained tools. This includes normal wear items such as brushes, chucks, motors, switches, gears and even cordless batteries in...

    Ridgid Battery Fuse Tab Broken

The battery isn't mine, it's a friend's that I took to try to fix. I have a Ridgid drill with 2 batteries that I bought about 5 or 6 years ago. After not using the drill for a year or so, (I had bought a Dewalt set and put the Ridgid aside), the batteries wouldn't charge. I had registered the...

    Ridgid Battery Fuse Tab Broken

I tested all the cell individually and got 1.33v each. I figured it was a fuse as it has a hole in the middle where none of the other tabs have a hole. Also it's the only tab with a slightly different shape than the others. Ian

    Ridgid Battery Fuse Tab Broken

I have a Ridgid 18v Max 2.5 Ah battery that did not charge anymore. I took the case apart and found there is a fuse tab between two of the batteries that is blown. I connected the two halves of the fuse with a test lead and put it in my charger and it charged, but the wire on the test lead...

    Air Compressor Needs Some TLC.

The other compressor is an older 1HP Ceccato pancake compressor. I'll use the Square D pressure switch from that one. What about the air pump? The one on the Campbell Hausfeld is a crappy little oiless unit, while the pump on the Ceccato compressor, it an oiled unit. This is my current pump...

    Air Compressor Needs Some TLC.

I needed a new pressure switch as the one on my compressor bit the bullet. I got a cheapie ($16, free shipping) from eBay last January and it doesn't work that well (no surprise I guess). A friend has an old Square D switch that he gave me but the HP rating for 110V and single phase is only 2HP...

    Air Compressor Needs Some TLC.

When the compressor starts when empty, there is a leak that I can hear but it goes away after about 20 seconds. I decided I'm going to replace everything on top, the pressure switch, pressure regulator and gauge and all the tubing. Ian
