    That sounds like a recipe for a mess. Its a bad plan to put mud on any kind of wood or wood product. Hang it, finish it what ever level of finish you want ....TAPE, TOP, SMOOTH WALL....what ever. Then lay down your 4 x 8 1/2 plywood if you must. Unless you are throwing wrenches or angle...

    To those who have skim-coated OSB

    If you are dead set on floating out your OSB use allpurpose mud. After 35 years as a Union Taper...myself...I would rock it and then tape and finish it in whatever finish you like....I would focus on the floors and storage and lighting...IMO ....I would advise against some of the above...

    sounds like you have just over a 10 ft lid (ceiling). If you are fine with the waste I would recommend using 12 ft board. Cut a **** off the end (aka cut to length), stand it up and stick it. You did not mention if you are hanging the lids or not. Hang the lids first. If the garage/shop/unit...
