    50 amps over 10AWG?

Yes I do PattenP, I found this little diagram (below) that is pretty relieving, though believe me when I say I've got lots of research ahead of me before I attempt anything myself, and more than likely I'm going to pay a REAL electrician to do the panel hookups for me...

    50 amps over 10AWG?

So this morning I fired him. He had no plans to put in grounding rods and was planning to run ground from the main panel. (Which was of course, some lie or backtracking because he told me explicitly only 3 cables in the ground earlier.) He said that he, 'spoke to his buddies' and they all said...

    50 amps over 10AWG?

The subpanel would be in a detatched shop about 70-75 feet away from main panel

    50 amps over 10AWG?

He just told me via text, that the 10 gauge wire would be completely fine, and 3 wires in the ground is all he needs for the subpanel. I figured, maybe he wants to put in a grounding rod, but he won't answer that question. Definitely going to have fire this guy. He also already ran some conduit...

    50 amps over 10AWG?

Hi Guys, I've got an electrician who wants to run 75 feet of 10/2 gauge wire from a two pole 50 amp breaker to a subpanel and then down to a few 110v circuits. Does this seem okay. Everything i'm reading is saying that he would need to 6/3 from a 50 amp breaker. What do you guys think?

    Lowes vs. Home Depot?

I'm a big fan of DeWalt so I like Lowes. They have better DeWalt deals. For example, impact driver and drill 20v combo, 149.00, Dewalt Miter saw, 400 with a free 200 dollar sand. They also price match Amazon if you go the service counter. I got a portable table saw for 350 with almost 200 in...

Attaching Wood to Rafters for Overhead Storage

The garage is a typical two car garage, I would estimate the length from the wall where the garage door opens to the ridgebeam, its probably 10 feet and to the other wall on the other side of the ridgebeam, another 10 feet. I would say the entire garage is probably 20x20 (rough estimate). If...

    Used Drain Oil

I take mine to autozone. iIf you have one in the area - they have huge barrels, you can take as much as you can carry and fill them up.

    Newbie from SoCal

Hi Guys, My name is Jon, I just picked up a house recently and I'm eager to get the garage up and running as cleanly as possible. My goal is to be able to fit two cars in the garage and have plenty of storage between the ceiling and the walls so that I can have my workbench and tools nicely...

Attaching Wood to Rafters for Overhead Storage

Hi Everyone, So I'm looking to do overhead storage in my garage soon and I've already collected alot of information from the forums, I've just got a couple of last questions. I'm a little confused about the best way to attach the stringers (hanging 2x4's running perpendicular) to the...

Overhead Storage in a Cathedral Styled Garage

Sorry Guys, - I can't figure out how to edit the previous post to shrink the pictures! After looking up a couple of pics online, it definitely looks like I have a ridge-beam construction garage roof. In this case would it be fine to attach storage to rafters? My original thought was to create...

Overhead Storage in a Cathedral Styled Garage

Hi Guys, Here are some quick pics I snapped this morning before running to work to show how it looks on the inside: http://imgur.com/a/0KzLn#0 Those runners or "rafters" look like 2x6's.

Overhead Storage in a Cathedral Styled Garage

Hi Guys, I'm new to owning a house and I was hoping I could have some assistance trying to figure out what to do about overhead storage in a garage that has cathedral or vaulted type ceiling. I hope not to mix up any terms here. When you look up, the ceiling looks like this ^ with no...
