Found a crack in my new lift tower late in the installation. FML!

I could be wrong but this looks like the APlusLift HW-10KBP lift. If so on their website says "24 month" warrantee on parts on the main page, then "1 year" on parts on the warrantee page.

    Old building advice

Looks like it's listed at more than double what it was appraised for last year and there does not seem to have been much of a price increase on properties in the area in the last two years when the sellers bought in 2010 for $35K. On the other hand it is still priced below residential...

Anyone here have radiant in their driveway (aka snow melt )

We have, or had an electric radiant heat in our 40 year old down slope drive. I say had because the city repaved our street and removed & replaced 5' of our drive nearest the street and in the process cut all the radiant lines and was unable to repair the system. Many others in the neighborhood...

    Architect/Engineer?????? How To?

Call the manufacture/dealer and find out if they have a referral for an engineer in your area, or look for an engineer who deals with metal buildings of this type/size and see what it would cost to have him produce stamped drawings from the specifications that you have. Call around as prices...

Planning Santa Fe style build in AZ

1320stang, it’s possible we crossed paths, as I was working on an adobe in the North Valley in ’90-91. Miss it too. I agree this could turn out pretty nice. As for the sketches, I also agree that they're nice, but unfortunately can't take any credit for them, as I found them on the net when...

Planning Santa Fe style build in AZ

In a nut shell, New Mexico Territorial style architecture incorporated Greek revival elements, that were popular in the east, into the regional adobe buildings. Typical features are white double hung windows and doors as well as brick trim at the parapet. Santa Fe, and Pueblo style are now...

Planning Santa Fe style build in AZ

I agree with Zeke regarding setting one bay back and braking the massing down to smaller elements to prevent the structure from looking like a huge single block. I'd also look at using a raised monitor/clearstory over your loft w/ north glazing to get the height you need w/o raising the roof...

    Kennedy tool cabinets

Kennedy is a high quality maker, but IIRC specialized in chests for machinists and many of their boxes have shallow drawer depths, so you may want to clarify that these will be deep enough to meet your needs. http://www.kennedymfg.com/Kennedy/Products/

French Door in place of your Garage Door?

Most door and window manufactures make large (wide) french patio doors. Pella's largest standard size is around 6'-3" wide, but other manufactures may offer bigger widths. One issue you may have with the Pella French doors is the raised threshold if you plan on moving equipment in and out on a...

    Building Inspectors Forum

When I sold my home in California the buyer hired a home inspector recommended by his agent. Not a problem until I read the inspectors report that clearly had major errors in it. The inspection company had what looked like electronic comment software that the inspector could select pre-written...

Modern Shed roof 24'x30' - looking for ideas

What general part of Toronto are you located? I have a client (Bathurst and St Clair) that wants to convert/expand their current single car garage into a guest apartment. The garage was built c.1910 and is currently legally no-compliant, which will limit how much it can be modified before a...
