Help identifying OTC tool garage sale find

Thanks, that was fast! That link is a gold mine. I also got a kick it of those comments. I'm a mechanic, 5th generation farmer and several of my friends have two cylinder John Deere tractors. -Isaac

Help identifying OTC tool garage sale find

I bought this OTC set at a garage sale over the summer and haven't been able to identify it. I have my ideas and I can tell what a couple of the tools do (for instance one of them is a small slide hammer) but don't know the original application. If you have any ideas please post them. -Isaac...

    Mystery Snap-On tool

I found this at a garage sale and being a Snap-On fan I had to buy it. I haven't been able to identify it and am hoping someone here knows what it's for or has an old catalog that it's in. Sorry for the poor quality pictures, my phone doesn't take very good pictures since the last time I dropped...

    Mystery Creutzburg pliers

I found these pliers in the barn, they were covered with crud to the point where I couldn't really tell the shape. Here is what they look like after cleaning them up some. They appear to say "Creutzburg" on them. I'm not coming up with anything on Google, does anyone here know what they are...

Stanley 257 bench grinder - capacitor

I ended up going with a 145-174mfd 250v capacitor. It starts just right in my opinion, quickly but not so fast that it's violent. Here it is on its way back together in primer.

Stanley 257 bench grinder - capacitor

Don't go to all that trouble, I was thinking it was sitting on a bench and as easy as tipping it on its back and looking at the cap. I think I have enough info now to make a more educated guess. Good point about a grinder not having much starting load. Now that I think about it more that...

Stanley 257 bench grinder - capacitor

Stuart, Thanks for those links. I have a new 320-400mfd start cap in stock which lines up perfectly with the chart in the first link. I will just use that unless exmaxima1 comes back with something significantly different. I think I might even give the old girl a coat of gloss dark machinery...

Stanley 257 bench grinder - capacitor

Well what do ya know, there is a centrifugal switch in there! It is very high quality compared to some of the ones I've seen and has the friction dealt with so the drag is pretty much imperceptible. Thanks for making me question my memory! Exmaxima1, any chance you can easily check the value...

Stanley 257 bench grinder - capacitor

Thanks for the help guys. I probably should have put in the first post that I have worked on quite a few grinders/motors and have the basics down. I put new bearings in this grinder a few years ago but never finished it by getting a new cap. You guys have me questioning my memory on whether or...
