USA Made SK Chrome Sockets. New and Old, Side by Side Comparison

Does the insides of these new SK sockets resemble any other product. It’s different than Proto. Different than the old SK. Do they look like Wright?

USA Made SK Chrome Sockets. New and Old, Side by Side Comparison

New to the left, old to the right. Old as in 2008 era. Purchased new, by me. New as in 2026 era. Purchased new, by me. The outsides look the same. The chrome, the stampings, the markings. All the same. The inside is very different. Again, new to the left, old to the right.

    Matco triple bay. Bought it!

What I did, and 2 years ago no regrets, is remove the casters and put the box on blocks. I wouldn’t move it around anyways, impossible to steal without a forklift of something, more stable, I can set the height to where I want it. It worked out well. An idea to ponder. I saved the old casters...

    Matco triple bay. Bought it!

You are going to have to post detailed pics to get good answers here. But, if I were you I would start identifying the box. Part number, serial number. It probably has a lifetime warranty. So getting new slides and casters should not be a problem. In my experience, Matco customer service over...

How many times did you organize your toolbox before being content?

I started this thread 13 months ago. Still organizing, improving the layout, added tools here and there!!! Just today I spent an hour or so tinkering with the layout, accommodating new additions. Never ending cycle!

    Matco triple bay. Bought it!

I would give him his asking price, load up as fast as possible and get the heck out of there before he changes his mind and realizes how dumb it is to sell à box like that for that price.

You would be Nuts (with a capital N) to do anything other than buy that box.

Beginner perspective on buying ratchets and sockets

Similar experience here. Starting out I went cheap thinking “I’m not a seasoned professional, I can just go cheap!!!!”…….yeah right!!! So I ended up buying Stanley, craftsman….department store stuff. Go all USA made Snap on/mac/cornwell from the get go. Going cheap will only set you back. I...

New USA made SK chrome sockets? Any good? Same as the old?

I like having both available so that I can pick which I think will work best. Usually, 6 point on ratchets, 12 point on breaker bars. And, collecting socket sets and growing the collection is fun. So yeah, gotta have it all….4-32mm, 6 and 12 point, shallow, deep and semi deep, 1/2in 3/8in and...

    Most Broken tools

Hex sockets, torx sockets, pliers, cutters But, I have to say, I think the premise of your question is flawed. À tool needs to be high quality even if it does not get broken. The quality does more than minimize breakage. Quality steel, less flex, better tolerances. Jobs go better, quicker...

New USA made SK chrome sockets? Any good? Same as the old?

So, Wright could be the OEM for SK sockets, even though they don't offer this socket, since they could simply swap out the broaches?

No experience with their sockets. I can’t stand their wrenches however.

New USA made SK chrome sockets? Any good? Same as the old?

Noticed something interesting. Wright does not offer 1/2 in drive, metric, deep 6 point. They only offer this in a 12 point socket. Same goes for Proto. The SK sockets I bought are 1/2in drive, deep, metric 6 point. So if wright does not even offer sockets like this, then they may not even be...

New USA made SK chrome sockets? Any good? Same as the old?

Not here yet. I’ll definitely do a side-by-side comparison. Anything out of the ordinary and I’ll return them and look for something else. Not sure what though.

New USA made SK chrome sockets? Any good? Same as the old?

I ordered some SK sockets from Zoro. The pics looked just like the old sockets I have, so I figured they would be the same thing. Maybe NOS, maybe new production yet identical. Basically, I have a 10-19mm SK socket set from years ago and I wanted to extend it to 32mm. 1/2” drive, 6 point, deep...
