If they are the torpedo style a lot of the problems come with age. The fuse corrodes at the tips and loses contact. New fuses and a good cleaning of the blades it is placed between and some bending to create more tension normaly does the trick. I normaly put a small bit of grease on the tips...

I keep them in the house. Digital manuals on my shop computer. Printed and laminated the electrical diagram, sometimes I print a page if I need it.
