    Acid Stained Man Cave

Yes I was up on that scaffolding today with my full hunting vest staining and sealing the 16' center beam. Glad that is over for awhile - lol. T

    Acid Stained Man Cave

The floor has many different shade variations from grays to dark browns which really give it a "natural" look of marble - hopefully when all lights are installed in the basement I'll get some better pics. Here's a pic of our log house, thought I'd throw that in for good measure. This weekend I...

    Acid Stained Man Cave

Will try to get them up soon. The drywaller is working in there right now so it is pretty messy. However, we did a different dilution - still malayan buff and coffee brown - in our basement and here is a post acid drying and a finished 5 coats of wax over 2 coats of sealer. The picture...

Totally useless comment, but REALLY, REALLY made me laugh. Tim

My Epoxy-Coat experience (LONG - with PICS and lots of detail)

Nice floor Red, the roller marks got me too. I think with spikes you could maybe lightly (very lightly) trowel over where the wet edge area prior to drying - but then again, I'm not sure that would work either. T

    Acid Stained Man Cave

I will post some pics tomorrow I hope. After scrubbing off the acid residue, a lot of the tan (malayan buff) became more gray. After the 2nd sealing today (even after the first one) the gray in the "wet" photo above is now a darker green. The floor almost comes off as a camo look when wet. We...

Just Layed Quikretes Epoxy Garage Floor Coating

Do you have to neutralize the acid before you lay epoxy down? I was just wondering as my electrician said he's seen floor peel after a year if the acid isn't neutralized. I mention this as I didn't see you say anything about neutralizing. I'm a newb to most of this stuff so I may be way off...

    Acid Stained Man Cave

Will do Scotty. I have the sealer and will be putting wax over the top as it will be a pseudo apartment for my daughter. One snag though, the mop i used left a bunch of fuzz behind, gonna have to spend some time cleaning that up tomorrow. T

    Acid Stained Man Cave

I spent all day mopping up the residue over and over until the rinse water was clear. I would have to say I underestimated how much work that would be. Much of the dramatic look is now mellowed with more grays and brown. Still nice looking and interesting, but if I want a more tan color I'd...

    Acid Stained Man Cave

Dried Acid Stain Here is the look that we saw this a.m. prior to rinsing off acid residue: This is a "wet look" photo I think. Another "wet look" photo I believe. **The "pro" said when you rinse it, the wet look that you see will give you an indication of your final color. Alot of...

    Acid Stained Man Cave

Jag: Sure. If you are laying down 2 separate color stains, you saturate floor with the lighter color first. We were doing about 3 - 4" width sections at a time. Then, you randomly put in heavy puddles of the darker stain. I did some 8" circular puddles, some 2' line puddles, and would do some...

    Acid Stained Man Cave

Hi all: * The pictures really don't do justice to the "river effect" that we created. I think with better lighting and a better picture taking, you'd see the pattern (or lack of pattern) a bit better. I just wanted to show the process. As I stated in my "DIY Floroquartz Floor" thread, the...

DIY Quartz - Floroquartz Pics - Enough I hope - Clear is drying - woohoo!

A few final pics of the final floor with a few flaws - over all pretty happy: We acid stained the "man cave" yesterday but I'll start a new thread on that one. Thanks for all the advice here: Tim

    My Wolverine Floor

Re: My Wolverine Epoxy floor Nightmare As far as forums go, I think both Fred and the OP have handled themselves well in this. Haugy seems to be a stand up guy that is sharing his experience. This thread scared me as I did a DIY job not knowing a floor could fail "down the road." I do not...
