    Vintage Mastercraft Tools

Can anyone date this 1/2" CT ratchet for me? I also have an identical 3/8". They are much more solidly built than the old ones.

    Estwing hammer question...

I found a small Estwing-style hammer today (maybe 12 oz.) with a cast-steel one- piece construction. There's no name on it but it says "PAT. 43345" on the **** end. Can't find anything useful about early Estwings on Google.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Thanks for your comments DrivesItFar. I am hoping for more feedback on this rare vise. I know there was some excited discussion in another thread here years ago when a similar Italian Wilton came up. I looked up Bugatti vises online and they are beauties for sure! Since the original post...

That's definitely a scam!!! EBay OWNS PayPal. No way are they moving their business out.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

This one is an Italian Wilton. 22 lbs, jaws a bit over 3". It bears a date of 10-63 on the key-way. I think it's a one-owner vise. It does not appear to have been abused at all and the mechanism is very smooth. Anyone know the history on these? Did Wilton have a branch plant in Italy?

    The VISES of Garage Journal

I have a European vise here. My grandfather shipped it to us from the Netherlands back in the 60's. I don't think NL had much of a vise industry then, so it could be German or other European maker. The only marking is "MM" on the rear casting. My Google searching has not turned up anything...

Wilton vise made in Italy ???

It's dated 10-63 on the key insert. I weighed it and it's 22lbs. By the way, I have another similar size, but non-swivel, European vise here. My grandfather shipped it to us from the Netherlands back in the 60's. I don't think NL had much of a vise industry then, so it could be German. The...

    Information on "Woden #2 Vise"

I have a 186b/0 and a Model 0. They have some cosmetic differences, e.g. shape of the base. What are the approximate manufacture date for these two lines? Is the B line earlier? It is certainly in rougher shape. Thanks in advance.

    Let's see your Herbrand!

I may be off-base, but I think the bullet-shaped handles are very attractive compared to the many run-of-the-mill handle shapes that are out there. That's what sold me on the set in the first place, plus the condition of course.

    Let's see your Herbrand!

In case anyone is curious the set sold for $275 + shipping. I debated keeping it but I have a number of other sets I use and I decided to pass this one on, as it was too nice for everyday use. I was happy with the price since I had invested quite a bit of cash in it, plus a half-day drive to...

    Let's see your Herbrand!

I'm attaching photos of my Herbrand SA73 1/2"-drive socket set with ratchet and flex handles, etc. It came in the original metal box with 17 sockets (up to 1 1/4"). Most of the parts appear to be unused. Just a couple of the sockets have some sign of wear, as does the ratchet handle. It's so...
