    Plumbing question

The Fernco isn't the issue currently. It is the actual copper pipe that has deteriorated. Once I get the copper out of the cast iron hub, I'll use a donut to convert it to PVC, then hook back into the Fernco. One run at the top of the Fernco is PVC and one is copper. Eventually, I'll replace...

    Plumbing question

It definitely isn't a leak at the roof line. Just above the fernco is two fairly long horizontal runs. I'll check those for leaks, but I can press that copper pipe in with my hands. Water comes out very slowly when I do. Northislander, what kind of appliances as an example? The only thing...

    Plumbing question

Alright. I've mostly lurked here for quite some time. Now I need.to ask the more experienced for help. We purchased our home in 2015. I've fixed a number of things already and have a list with no end that I need to get to. In the past couple of days though, I've noticed some water down the...

    Harbor Freight Coupon Thread

Thanks for the feedback folks. I plan on grabbing the better wheel chock as well. It's a common mod. Just wanted to be sure it would hold a bike that is about 1000 lb.

    Harbor Freight Coupon Thread

I've been wanting one for a while. I will say that they drop to this price a lot. For you two with the lift, what do your bigger bikes weigh? I have an '09 Nomad that comes awfully close to the 1000 lb limit, along with two smaller bikes. I've read reviews that it handles larger bikes just...

    Basic light/fan switch swap

There should be a wire attached to the switch itself. You can use a wire nut and jumpers going to the switch and box. If the switch doesn't have a ground screw, you might consider updating them.

    Basic light/fan switch swap

The way I'm reading it, one wire comes from the wall -> wraps around the screw at switch A (stripped here) -> pushes into push in connecter at Switch B. I would hope that this is the line side (carrying power), but would never wire it in this manner.

    Basic light/fan switch swap

Wire 1 or 2 is power in, the other carries power off somewhere. Wire 3 is the other side of the loop? This will need to be a separate wire to bring power to B and you'll need another wire that will connect A with wires 1, 2, and 3 with a wire nut or 4 port connecter. So you'll end up with 4 hot...

Sears.com hot deals and clearance thread

They boost everything up to MSRP. Sales prices before liquidation are the best you'll get. Too many people take the bait and buy overpriced items with a % sign on them. They closed our local store and it was empty before the prices even returned to normal. Fixtures on the other hand, someone...

Let's See Your Snow Moving Equipment...

You're actually compacting the snow below your vehicle. Eventually, the snow will provide enough lift that you won't have traction. I've tried doing this in the past. I don't any longer. The end of the driveway is usually the worst, when county plows pile up what they've removed from the road.
