Thanks for the info! I think I came across the truss plans before, but never saved the link.

A bunch of machines for sale.

I am selling a few machines and tools for my in-laws who are closing their shop soon. Below is a list of the major equipment. I can provide pictures if you are interested, just let me know. The pic's I have are too big to post. We need to sell everything ASAP, so it is all OBO. Make an offer we...

Good place for barn plans online

Anyone know a good source for barn plans? I am thinking about building a 40x60' barn in place of our old 32x40' barn that is falling apart shingle by shingle lol. I have looked at a bunch of sites, but none have the best info. Mostly, I'm looking for a good source so I can estimate material...

Compression - Show Off Your Compressor

This one will be going in our garage, but we still use it at our tool shop. Ingersol-Rand T30 80gal. 15+ years old and still looks and runs like new.

Great looking build! I too am sorry for all of your heartache. I think Murphy has taken up residence on your land lol.

    Gambrel roof beam questions

Bevis - I just looked at the Socket Systems. Very interesting. The standard kits only go to 30' width, but it's nice they have custom kits for over 30' spans. RPH - I've read a little about the LSB's too for other projects, but never got too in depth. I'll have to read more about them. Thanks...

    Gambrel roof beam questions

Thanks for the info! I have also started thinking of building with steel as an option and have been trying to find info on a gambrel roof structure. I just want to see how the posts and beams would be constructed. Then I would "skin" the structure and either use girts and purlins, or stick...

    Gambrel roof beam questions

I'm working on a barn/shop/garage design where the structure is 40'x80' with a loft and gambrel roof. I want to keep the ceiling open and the floor clear with no posts. One question is, does anyone know what the length limits would be with something like a glu-lam beam? If I can get an 80' wood...

    Couple of neat pawn scores..

I used to work in a pawn shop and scored a bunch of tools we had bought and priced dirt cheap. We bought a bunch of name brand tools and boxes for 10-30% what they were really worth.

    Where to get 1/4 pegboard?

One place to look is a grocery store that might be closing, or some other store selling their fixtures. My dad got about 40 sheets or more for his church from a Kroger around here, last year, and he gave me about 10 sheets to use in my barn and garage.

    Chicago, Il

Welcome! Quick question, is the pic in your avatar an actual Caravan or just a Photoshop? We own a T&C and I thought the pic was cool, no matter what it is lol.

    Extra shallow sockets?

I could have used something like this last week when I did a water pump for my bro & sis in-laws on their '96 Firebird. One bolt behind the P/S pump was no fun getting to and out lol. Not to mention back in again.

    Suggestions for a rough floor

Haven't had a chance to get pic's of the floor, but I can compare it to a rougher version of your typical sidewalk, lol.

    Suggestions for a rough floor

I will post some ASAP. You can tell that either they didn't protect the slab or it blew away before it cured, or maybe it was raining as they poured.

    Suggestions for a rough floor

My house was built in '77, and it appears that when they poured the floors, it had rained and pitted every square inch of slab in the house and garage. I want to put on an epoxy coating in the garage, but am concerned about the roughness of the floor. Would this end up being an issue later on...
