The listing was "10x G8 LED bulb dimmable 110v 2W 220 lumen COB 1505 SMD warm white". It was $11.95 last year and now its $12.99. They are technically brighter than the bulbs they replace but the light isn't as illuminating if that makes sense. You can't see as much even though these are...
Somehow this iSmart Alarm smart plug has been working perfectly even now when its -19F/-26C outside. I doubt its going to last though. With as many on/offs as I'm doing, the contacts will probably wear out sooner than later.
JRC3, back to your point, I found some thermostat plugs that have a temperature probe and they turn a heating or cooling appliance on and off based on temperature. Its corded but that would be fine. I just have to find a way to get the probe into the water.
I built the enclosure, or the...
This one doesn't have a thermostat. You just adjust flame height and water flow with a knob. Its a Rain Man L6.
It'd be nice to just let it hold the water at 106 but what if you don't use it for a week? It might be nice to let the electric heater hold the water at 80-90 degrees and then fire up...
Thats an excellent idea actually. I went a different direction in the end but that would work.
I made a little drawing of my design for the tankless water heater enclosure. It's wood lined with thermopan. Thats R5 insulation value. If it needs more, I could put rigid foam board on the outside...
I got everything hooked up and running.
I'm having one problem. if I shut the propane water heater's pump off, the lines freeze up. I turned it off for 5 minutes and all the lines froze solid and I had to bring the propane heater/pump assembly inside.
I can leave the pump running and just...
Nice. I'm trying to use the iSmart Alarm Smart Switch version of the same thing to turn the pump for my propane water heater on and off. Besides a schedule or manual on/off you can use an IFTTT script to control it using a contact sensor. Normally this is to tell if a door or window is open but...
Thanks for the math. It sounds like it would work, but I might end up burning a lot of fuel for not much result.
I found a cheap tankless LPG water heater so I bought that and I'll give it a shot. A little less redneck and probably more efficient. It says 32kw which seems like a lot.
Here's where I got the idea:
That heater is rated at 11kw or 37,500 BTU. He's saying 20-30 degrees per hour. You can find pictures of this rig on Amazon if you search in the reviews for the 4 person model, not the 6 person model. Its not a bad setup and his water heater is only $120.
Thats what I'm worried about too, that it won't work.
A lot of folks are saying they can get this hot tub up to temp when its cold out, even below freezing just using the 1300w heater it comes with. Once you take the cover off and get the bubbles going, thats when it starts to cool off though...
Any recommendations on using a 23,000 BTU kerosene heater to heat water?
A kerosene interpretation of this:
I'm thinking 40' of 1/2 soft copper utility tubing coiled around the inside of the kerosene heater's housing. I'm heating a 290 gallon inflatable hot tub outdoors in MN. The hot tub...
I probably wouldn't trust my life to this thing but I'd treat it like any other jack or jackstand. Once the vehicle is on, bounce my body weight on the hood and trunk to see if it moves or if its stable. Just as an added measure, I'd get the tall jackstands to support the front and rear of the...
Is this a garage or house? I guess I'm not sure if this is a basement ceiling or if this is the ceiling between the first and second floor or a 1.5 story home. I know that might sound redundant but even though I have a finished basement, I would insulate the ceiling just to control noise. So I'm...
