Having no engineering background, I am just concerned with the structural integrity of attaching something to the ceiling of my garage. I found a simple set of plans from Family Handyman (http://www.familyhandyman.com/garage/storage/easy-garage-storage-solutions/view-all - see "Suspended...
Been looking into building some storage shelves that hang from the ceiling of my garage. I've seen some designs that I like (), but I'm still hesitant to hang something above my cars.
Anybody done something similar? If so, what do I need to know about safely installing in order to avoid a...
Got an air compressor and finish nail gun this winter. Finally tried it out a few weeks ago and quickly noticed that the Kobalt male/female adapters and quick-connects I got from Lowe's were leaking air. So much so that the compressor was kicking on after about only 1 minute to refill. I...

Was curious so I plugged my zip into both UPS and FedEx. Lowe's says the tool weighs 40lbs and at that weight for standard ground shipping with UPS was $43 and FedEx $32
Basically, what I'm considering building is a shelving unit to hang on the wall above the garage door opening, so support beams to the floor aren't an option. I'm very hesitant about the design, considering the potential for it to come crashing down on either my car or my opened garage door...
The latter. The picture I posted was a framed box shape with a few cross pieces in the middle, then attached to the wall. The "front" side hangs freely with the chain and S-hook supporting it.
