Battery start generator for horse barn

Can you leave a float charge attached while the generator is running, so she doesn't have to mess with taking that on and off? Also, you might consider a dual fuel, so no worries about draining the fuel. If you use gas, use gas with Sta-bil, or similar stabilizer added. I like the remote start...

    Electrical for a Greenhouse

I'm considering solar for my 12X24 horse trailer cover. However, not that much use compared to a greenhouse. Probably a couple of LED shop light in the peak. It's a ways away from an outlet and don't want to run an extension cord.

How does this pole barn price sound?

I got a quote recently for a 24X24 agricultural building to park trailers/tractors. Trusses, open span, no sides, metal roof, gravel floor. $15,000. My site is ready, so no excavation. Built to be suitable to enclose later if I wish.

    Lumber Price Check

I have some must-do projects that I will buy for. I'm able to do a lot of the work myself or at least act as the general. I like doing the work and picking up new tools as necessary (nail gun is on the wish list). I am having to make more trade-offs in other areas - I find myself saying, for...

    Price of osb way up!

Re: Anybody else not doing projects due to cost of lumber? I've started going to a place called Parr Lumber. It's in Oregon and Washington. They say they are where the builders go. If I'm going to pay the prices now, at least I get extra service. They have a lot in stock and can order all the...

What kind of tools have you found in the road??

I was driving behind an open trailer heavily loaded with tools, ladders and such. This sign on the back of the trailer said “Honk if stuff falls off”. Sent from my iPhone using Garage Journal

    Werner Ladder 22' Multipurpose

I got a new Werner 22 ft, 375 pound capacity (per side of the step ladder setup), multipurpose ladder yesterday. It's up there with my miter saw and cordless drill in the "why didn't I do this years ago?" category. I also have the smallest, 250 pound version, but this new one is a beast. It's so...

Burning Wood Off Stuck Carriage Bolts

I want to reuse some nice corner braces on my new barn doors that will replace the old rotten ones. Problem is, they used carriage bolts (many, many of them) to attach the metal braces to the 2X6s. They just spin when I try to remove the nut. What would be the problem with throwing the whole...

What kind of tools have you found in the road??

After all these years, I sometimes find tools in my garage I cannot remember acquiring or using, but they look like really nice tools. And, no, I am not having memory loss issues.

Battery start generator for horse barn

I would go with solar for lights and run a long garden hose out there for water. Don't want to be carrying buckets. When you get the electric in, run a water line as well. Get enough power to run a small refrigerator. When you get electric in you can sell the solar set up on Craigslist to...

    Truss cost

Here's a Youtube video I found on setting trusses. He had some helpers but no lift or crane. I just got a quote for 13 24' trusses with a foot overhang, here in Oregon for $2053. This assumed 2' on center and 4/12 pitch. Made of 2X4. So roughly $158 per truss. I probably would go back and get...

    Truss cost

I'm putting up a horse trailer pole structure. About 12X36 so I can park the truck and trailer under it while hitched up. I can't find anything in Oregon as cool as Menards in-stock truss website. That's what I'll be using to compare any quotes I get here in my area.

    Scrap Wood

Is it just me? Every time I think of getting rid of scrap wood, or throwing smaller pieces on the burn pile, something comes up that has me using some of the scrap wood. My mind even invents projects that could use it. That said, I would appreciate seeing your methods of storing, thoughts on...
