The desmond has 2 thin coverage coats of Rustoleum Candy Apple Red over one thin coat of rustoleum etching primer. Looks great but not so durable so I also covered it in 3 or 4 coats of urethane 2k automotive clear. I probably went overboard but I enjoy painting.

I thought you guys might like this: Charles Parker 5x, Prentiss bulldog No.53, Desmon-Simplex 350. Trying to figure out which one im going to give to my dad.

That 45 degree angle is there to transfer force of impact to the table rather than to the feet of the vice..... oh well.

Maybe I should ask if its a quality piece before i make my mind up... What do you guys think?

I have both and both are good to go. HF unit is really a powerhouse.

Love this garage (especially the lime green kawi behind the vette). I would feel guilty working in such a nice place though :)

Just finished my desmond-simplex 350. Regal red, 3 coats of polyurethane automotive clear overtop. Without a doubt, this will be the last time my wife ever touches a vise.... Just started working on my next project, a nice large parker (steel)

I have restored two desmonds. Neither had major casting flaws but I did not sandblast them. Just wirecup + anglegrinder. Neither had corrosion on internal surfaces either and were well greased with god knows what. desmond was a small player in the vice game but seem to be great quality as far as...

Its actually one coverage coat of rustoleum candy red from spray can then 3 thick coats of automotive 2part urethane clear. Its pretty durable stuff.

I have beaten the hell out of my 18V li-ion hitachi 1/2 impact for 2 years and It still keeps on going. I have been very impressed with their li-ion tool line for the price. Irregardless, air tools always win.
