    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT My Mini Garagemahal

Are you going to need a heat shield for that center bearing, it looks really close to the exhaust pipes.....

Tool Organisation Was the Wrong Question — We Should Optimize for Speed of Retrieval, Certainty of Return & Protection of Value of tools.

My uncle and his father and grandfather ran their own mechanic's shop from about 1900 till the early 70's when their property got bought out for a huge downtown development and they closed the shop up, by then it was just my uncle and his son, my cousin.....that said the first time I visited his...

Anti Seize on McPherson Strut Assembly, Knuckle Pinch Type

My MINI has a flat loop that fits into the slot, and the pinch bolt goes thru it. If it's built like this you really can't have a problem lubing it up. If it's only held by the "pinch"......well, I still don't think it would matter.

Imperial Journey - a Restoration Saga

I think you're doing a fantastic job! Just so you know, that carpet on the bottom of the door cards did serve a purpose, so your shoes didn't scuff or leave black marks on the vinyl as you get in or out of the car. On heavier doors, especially on my sloped driveway, I use my foot to hold the...

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT Breaking out of my self-imposed prison

I can empathize, my bride is a borderline hoarder, the only thing that keeps our house from getting buried is that she lets me sell or give away stuff from time to time. Even so, for our ages we have too much **** in the house.....time for more of it to go away. I built a 10X16 shed in the back...

FIRE! What was supposed to protect me from this?

I lost power to one side of my 240 service in my breaker panel, POCO came out and pulled the meter and found the lug had melted, they replaced it and all's good now. My house was built in 1964 and I'm sure all the electrical service, panels etc are original to the build. Might be time to invest...

    Welder purchase questions

Funnily enough, after owning my Clarke welder for 35 years, it was only a few days ago that I saw this sticker on the back - I thought it was an English made welder - imagine my surprise! Made in Italy....it's hard to see the little sticker in the pic unless you enlarge it.

OK, that looks like a well thought out plan for the water runoff, I had no idea it was that rainy in your part of the world - 9' is a LOT of rainwater to deal with!

    Welder purchase questions

I'm not familiar with HTP, but I have a Clarke like that from about 1990 that still welds like a champ. Consumables are a bit hard to find as it's considered a 'hobby welder" but I found Machine Mart in England stocks all sorts of parts for it including shields and tips for very reasonable...

So, they don't use curbs or drainage ditches alongside the driveway (road) to control where the water goes? Won't it just erode out again the next time you get these rains?

    Tree Work

I just spent $1500 to have the pin oak in my front yard trimmed up, dead stuff removed etc by a pro. There were a couple of limbs I wanted him to take down but he said no, they were healthy limbs and weren't a problem. This tree is probably 60 years old and about 100 ft tall. So I agree, have...

Yeah, cold here in Kansas too, and fixing to get a whole lot colder by the weekend.....nothing to our neighbors in the Great White North I guess, but minus temps make me hurt now.....
