Sears has discontinued C3. Genuine batteries aren't available directly from Sears. They can still be found new on eBay and such though. And yes, C3 was more of a homeowner line than a pro line. Dewalt and Milwaukee will be much better (and much more expensive) than C3 was. Trust me on this...

Be careful with V20. Those are SBD's cheapest tools. They are merely slapping Craftsman branding on them and charging more. Many of those V20 tools are available for cheaper with other branding like Black and Decker.

Mostly correct. "Sending" the battery just means dropping it off at local battery shop and picking it up a day or two later when they're done. I wouldn't recommend doing this yourself even if you're "handy" unless you own the proper spot welder to do it. Battery cells cannot be soldered. If you...

I cut the proper connector out of a sacrificial C3 tool, open up the Ryobi tool, do some dremeling to make a C3 battery slide in it, cut out the Ryobi connector, and solder in the C3 connector I previously cut out, and put it back together. It's janky for sure, but I've had good luck with it.

Lithium batteries last a long time if they aren't stored in a hot environment. One of my XCP batteries is 10 years old, and I cannot tell a difference in runtime between it and the new ones. And even if the cells do eventually die, a battery shop can always replace them. And you can even use...

Nearly all Ryobi 18v tools up until 2014 had Craftsman 19.2v versions. One that didn't was the Ryobi P2500 Pruner. Ryobi manufactured very, very few of these for some reason, and it was never sold in Craftsman form. I happened across one for sale and converted it from Ryobi One+ batteries to C3...

Keep an eye on eBay. Grinders pop up in the $125 range with regularity. The trim saw should make it through a 2x4 just fine cutting at 90 degrees. That's what is was designed to do. I use mine all the time. The full size 7.25" is really nice, but a little hard to find. The 6.5" is pretty...

The paint sprayer? Sweet, those are extremely rare. Only a couple per year pop up on eBay. What's yours doing?

I have the C3 fan, but it is a joke. Completely laughable how little air it moves. Tiny little blades with essentially zero shrouding batting hopelessly at the air. Hopefully whoever designed that was fired. Only good thing I can say about it is the runtime is solid. Runs all day on a 4.0. The...

It's been that way for a long time now. C3 was announced for phase out years ago. The only thing left to die at this point is Sears itself. The last Sears in the state shut down this past spring. Kind of surprised me since it was one of their busier stores and it was a location they owned, not...

Either of kythrie's links will work. The grey one is from Ryobi P2052 which is the Ryobi version of our exact trimmer. Part is slightly cheaper if you don't mind the incorrect color. Here is the same thing from eBay instead of Amazon...

As has been mentioned, the XCP lithium packs cannot be beat. Your tools will have a lot more power with XCP than with the old Ni-Cads. You just need to have a dual-chemistry charger to charger them. The old, black cube Ni-Cd one won't work. XCP packs can be purchased new affordably off eBay.

Unfortunately that doesn’t run off C3 batteries though. It requires its own different battery and charger. It’s hard to find a c3 sprayer people aren’t asking $200+ for.

Well, there was (sort of) one new tool that has been released in the last few years. THIS: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Craftsman-10-in-19-2V-Powered-Trimmer-TOOL-ONLY-10495-NO-Battery-or-Charger-NEW/293043577332?epid=1628963011&hash=item443ac221f4:g:wxoAAOSwwKhcrjuG That is the CR2007 trimmer...
