NEW build 36 x 50 garage (hot rod shop)

I can't wait for next week!! How tall total is the place going to be, or did I miss that? I'm thinking 12' feet downstairs and 9' tall upstairs would be a total of 21 'livable' but, with gables or pitch where does that put you??? Again, can't wait for next week!!

Great job! I wish I had windows in my garage (and neighbors far enough away to not look in)!! Natural ventilation and light would be GREAT!

The "honey I think you overdid it" garage

Wow, There are ALOT of beautiful shop/garage examples on this site; but this one literally has everything! Pull the cars out, put a couple tables in the bays and it's an entertainers dream  Noone would even have to know it's a 'shop' but the lift's will give it away :bounce:

Compound mitering saw used for chop saw?

I did it, and had to return it. They told me it would work w/ an abrasive cut off wheel at Lowes. The Saw MELTED. The laser pointer melted, and then every peice of plastic on the mitering bottom and gauges (for the degrees) and the sliding portion cover. Needless to say I went back to Lowes. I...

    Lets talk chop saws

You know as cheap as band saws are becoming, I'm browsing them as we speak. Does it cut better than a chop saw usually? I've never used one but I have heard others speak nothing but great things about them!

    Lets talk chop saws

Re: Quality Roospike, do you have any problems with the saw 'smoking' or tripping the 20 amp breaker? I have the DeWalt also and i REALLY like it but, it will smoke while cutting through thicker metal with some pressure (not back breaking or shoving) and then it trips my 20 amp breaker...

Gonna be worth the wait...Dad's new Garage

I have to keep off of this board... it makes the people that live in the suburbs and have a 'standard garage' really depressed.... (Yes, I live in 'burbs, and these things make me really depressed... lol)

    Dumb idea?

That and you'd have to check with you county setback lines. A structure can only come so far forward, back or sideways according to the county. So say the setback says 30 feet from sidewalk end, and you encroach and only give it 20 feet, they may make you tear it down. I had a similar problem...

    air compressor recommendation?

I feel stupid asking, but, could by any chance you run a tape measure across that?? I'm trying to lay out my garage if i get it for Christmas (Lowes is 30 miles north of me so it's not a quick trip. I was wondering height, width please!! Thank you so much! - Jason

    GFI outlets or GFI breaker?

Guys, nevermind. I bought a Murray breaker and you have to run the neutral line of the downstream receptacles and lighting to the breaker itself, and then the wire from the break goes to the neutral lug to complete the circuit. What i was doing was running the downstream to the neutral bus, and...
