    Asking for references

if its a big job get a construction manager who has lots of experience. He can assess their work as its carried out and/or will have trades he knows. If you're doing it on your own, make sure you keeps a good eye on the work during progress. Don't pay it all up front. Payment sched depends on...

I was wondering if that would be the case.

    wee bitty mouse

interesting, thanks for all the info. interesting note about the shrubbery. I set my shed into the landscape and it's almost a jungle so I'm thinking that may contribute. So I put in a rubber flap at the top of the roll up door. That may or may not work. If it doesn't I put victor spring traps...

    wee bitty mouse

I forgot to mention thast I peppered the area with mothballs. my neighbour was wondering what the smell was there was so much. I was suggested to install a brush seal, but that doesn't seem like it would block them out very much... maybe rat poison is the only way. I need to keep the wiring...

    wee bitty mouse

I'm trying to keep the mice out of my shed. I've sealed off any food sources but they've taken a liking to it. I've checked the structure (its pretty much new) and the only gap is at the top of my rollup door, roughtly 6' up. Can these little f-ers climb up the vinyl siding and steel door...

    Expansion gaps for interior plywood?

I would tongue and grove them, or half lap combined with a vertical batten glued on one side...that is it aesthetics were important. The biggest issue is to lap your plywood on a stud and if you space them out too much, it won't align.

    Shed Build Construction

I have this in a 4x7: http://www.tracrite.com/ (the 944 model) and they will make it any width/height you want or need. When I ordered mine, the neighbor ordered a 5x7. The space a roll up is much less than a conventional gara door unless you're using swing open doors. My 4x7 roll up occupies...

    Shed Build Construction

Just a couple of observations. You should double or triple the outside corner where the other wall butts up. If you're going to put sheathing on the inside, make sure you leave yourself a nailing edge. Also, after you finish your front wall, be sure to add a second 2x around the perimeter...

    Shed Build Construction

You need to be mindful of the way you lay the plywood. The long side of the ply needs to run across from the joists otherwise it will sag. This is really important. Yes,you'll have more seams, but it will be more solid. One layer should be fine but use 2x6 16" o/c. No PT is ok is your soil is...

    Garage construction issues

I would cut the slab, form an even curb pinned into the slab or pour a whole New slab inside using the walls as a form and make sure you form the threshold with a slope. It the blacktop is above the garage floor, whether it seals is irrelevant since the water will migrate pas the seal. There...

    garage window security

you may want to look into Ace security film. The bars will detract, but a nice sticker with an alarm company on it with a security laminate should also deter. Motion sensors help too. You can obscure the glass with curtains, tint, etc to hide valuables. Personally, I rather not have the jail look.

When hanging drywall... horizontal or vertical on walls?

The bonus to hanging horisontally is the seam at the ceiling is noticably straighter. On 10' walls, you hand 2 sheets and the 3rd is cut tight to the ceiling. The longer the sheet, the fewer seams. If you hang it vertically, you'll notice allot of peaks and valleys, even with the indentations...
