1980s Mac toolbox model number help

I would advise looking for the stamp around the corners of the sides and back. Wipe it down with some WD40 then get a powerful flashlight and shine it from all angles. When I was looking for the stamp on my Span-On, I seriously had the flashlight pointed at the exact right spot for almost a...

    My grandad's tool chest

That is an awesome box and it looks like it is still in great shape. If all of the drawers slide properly and no major rust spots, I'd say don't restore it, just clean it up and wax it. If you can find the manufacture's stamp it will tell you the exact age.

Should all Cornwell ratchets have the oil hole bearing?

Yes, this! Did the bearing fall out or did it never have one?

Why Can't I be this Lucky

I use Reddit a lot. I like it because when someone responds to your comment you get a notification and your conversation stays together, rather than like traditional forums where comments just appear in chronological order. Plus with only one account you can discuss pretty much any topic you...

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

I messaged the guy and he said someone was coming to look at it today. I would have been all over it, but it is a decent drive and I just picked up a '55 KA stack this past Friday.

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

Just found this on Craigslist. The want is strong with this one. I assume that isn't the original color? <a href="http://s1374.photobucket.com/user/i_selinger10/media/19ECC788-3D07-40E6-852C-A4FA9FDAC614_zpsce488hpb.jpeg.html" target="_blank"><img...

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

Well hot damn, The Horse and JF were right! It took some elbow grease and the flash light at the exact right angle and the stamps appeared, no chance of getting a picture though. Seems like these was made in 1955. The top box's stamp is KR 56 7463 Made in USA 55, and the bottom's is KR 352...

To restore or not to restore?

I have recently inherited a bunch of old hand tools. The only ones I have been able to identify are some Vlchek wrenches. My question is, are these the types of wrenches you want to restore, or is the type of rust/patina you want to leave alone? I also don't want to ruin what little is left...

    1950 - 1963. Craftsman tool chest

Sounds like a good deal to me, I'd probably pay $200 for just the boxes. The Dayton box looks to be in great shape and I've always been a fan of the curvy chrome handled boxes. And the Craftsman is definitely a cool piece.
