    Strange cutaway...bottle jack?

Never seen something like this before. Doesn't seem like there's room for any hydraulics or ratcheting mechanism. Does anyone know something about these? Is it just a kind of primitive jackstand?

Weaver Bull Dog mechanical floor jack

Making a new thread since there's no other record of this model online and Google doesn't index the "show your new tools" mega thread. Weaver Bulldog jack dates from the early 1930s, rated for 5000 lbs, slightly over 4' long and weighs 137lbs. No grease fittings but pivots and casters are easily...

    Hein Werner O boy question

I don't see videos, just pics, but maybe because I'm on mobile. Noises on my past floor jacks have usually been from springs, more common on the cheaper ones. Binding sounds like it just needs some lube. Personally I wouldn't rebuild it if it isn't leaking, I'd assume it's a leather U cup and...

    Show your new tool arrivals

Picked up this classic belt drive bench grinder combo thing. Guessing the other side was part of a lathe? Came with a unique motor from very early 1900s which was the main reason for buying the set. Oil cups on the shaft

    Disappointed in Fastenal

Glad I'm not the only one. Most of our suppliers still use them and they buy by the pallet, although I've tried to link some up with other wholesalers. Totally agree with ripoff prices, terrible hours and worst of all is accounts are all store by store, no central system, and without an account...

compressor is leaking air from the PSI adjustment knob valve

Better if with silicone grease on rubber parts, Oatey plumbing, caliper grease etc. Petroleum grease will shorten the lifespan

What type of compressor air filter is this?

You can order sheets of filter foam of various porosity, and could prob cut and hot-glue it together to form an exact replacement filter cylinder. That's what I'd do with that style personally, although you might find paper that would fit also. I used a k&n and took long enough just to find one...

Can someone educate me on Air Compressor CFM requirements for air tools.

Both IR tools use the same amount of air per minute at full load, but if you were to replace both with the equivalent electric tool, one would use 10x less electricity than the other at full load. Unless I'm missing something in the specs or math, it's all in the design of the air tool

Can someone educate me on Air Compressor CFM requirements for air tools.

It's not the loss of energy in the conversion of electricity to air to motion that surprises me, it's the tenfold decrease in efficiency of one tool compared to other tools

Can someone educate me on Air Compressor CFM requirements for air tools.

Anyone know if compressor ratings are standardized? Looking into a quote in this article it's strange that many off-brand 7.5hp compressors claim 30cfm, when top brands like Champion claim ~24 and Saylor Beale claims ~26. This thread has made me realize how hugely the efficiency at the tool...

Can someone educate me on Air Compressor CFM requirements for air tools.

Hmm I see that. 301b? Says average load is 6cfm, peak is 24cfm, but it's only a 200watt equivalent air motor. So you'd need a 7ish hp compressor at 5000+ watts to do 200 watts of work. Is that a typo or is there really that much friction loss in the system at times? That'd be a huge compressor...

Can someone educate me on Air Compressor CFM requirements for air tools.

What specific tools are you looking at that are over 10cfm? It might be a difference in how ratings are calculated, I don't know anything about that, but also could be an actual difference in the tools themselves. For example my 15cfm Dayton scaler in a picture looks just like many other models...

    Clutched drill press chuck?

You'd still need a way to keep the outside of the housing from spinning. Cheapest way that might work is to cut the motor shaft off an old drill and chuck it up, or chuck up a drill bit extension if you have to reach down into anything to grab a shaft. You could hold the transmission body...

    1" Wall Mount Pulley

Well I don't see what you're trying to do with that, but if you just need pulleys in that position why not use a standard hanging pulley through bolted in the upright position? Toothed lock washer against the tube to hold it
