Need design ideas for wooden above-head shelves

Here's what I did. As you can see I put shelves wherever I could and use them. One section holds scrap steel so they must be strong enough. They are 16" deep white OSB stock shelving. They are screwed to cheap white brackets. There is a bracket on every stud. They have been up for 8 years...

Post pictures of your two-car garage!

Here's another for you. Probably 2.5 car but close. 24 X 30. I have been in this one for 7 years and it works out well. Work in it year around. I have put 2 street cars in there with enough room to work around them.

Pictures Mounted Heater (Hot Dawg, Mr HEater, etc)

Here's an 8' ceiling. Reznor heater only needs 1" clearance. Vents out the back wall. Been using it for 6 years and it works great. Mounted on threaded rod to slotted angle in the rafters.

still tryin to figure this out..

Mine is 24 X 32, 8' ceiling and everything painted semi-gloss white. I have 12 4' 2 bulb fixtures arranged in 3 rows of 4. I would say it's adequate. I paint my race car in there without problems. There are times I would like more light but that's pretty rare. I have additional lighting...

    Question for heating engineers

Tim, I got it. Thanks. The short answer for anyone following this is: the greater the temperature difference between outside and inside the faster the heat loss through the walls so maintaining a higher temp causes faster heat loss and the furnace cycles more often. This gets tempered...

    You have it. Thanks.

    Question for heating engineers

OK. I think I understand now. It has to do with the difference between inside and outside temperatures and how fast heat can transfer through the walls. So the real question is how well insulated my walls are. If the heat transfer is very minimal because of insulation, it will still take...

    Question for heating engineers

OK. I understand the analogy but is there enough extra "leakage" between 50 and 65 degrees? I know we are not comparing apples but your compressor is showing a 100% increase in pressure from 60 to 120 psi. It would be less leaky between 50 and 65 psi. Maybe I should count the number of times...

    Question for heating engineers

Here's the background. I live in NW Ohio (cold). My shop is 24 X 32 with 8' ceiling. All walls and ceiling are insulated. Overhead doors are insulated and sealed. Total glass is about 12 sq. ft. and double pane so it passes little heat. I have natural gas heat with a Reznor FT45 (45,000...

    Direct vent counterflow wall furnaces

I don't have experience with the Empire/Cozy style. I have a Reznor power vent gas model. As you can see in the picture, it only needs 1 inch clearance. I am 5' 9" and have tons of clearance to walk under it. My garage is 24 X 32 and fully insulated, so similar to yours and I live in NW Ohio...

    How about some storage ideas.

It's a type of particle board. You can buy them at Lowes, Home Depot, etc.

    Shelves

Here is my solution. White MDF so they look decent and clean easily. Inexpensive. Hold plenty of weight. The corner above the welding equipment is almost all steel storage. The brackets are on every wall stud (16") and cost .79. Works for me.

    How about some storage ideas.

Here is my option. They are MDF, cheap, plenty strong, only 12 inches deep so they don't take up a lot of room. I bolted them together and to the wall. Screwed a white 1 X 12 to the top for more storage. They contain a lot of weight. 1 is completely filled with auto paints and the shelves...
