    Enco Mill Help

Keeping the quill lock "just tight enough to keep the quill from dropping..." will work well, thanks. With it being just tight enough, I can still advance it. There is probably more than .010 inch of 'open range' with engagement! Thanks again, John

    Enco Mill Help

It is an Enco bench top. There is a gib adjustment screw for the X and Y axis, but I don’t see one for the Z axis. Sure would like a little more precision with that. Thx with any help. John Sent from my iPhone using The Garage Journal mobile app

    Enco Mill Help

I have an old Enco Mill in fair shape for having to be salvaged decades ago by the owner, previous to the last owner. There is a lot of 'play'/backlash in the verticle Z axis when the manual dial is engaged. I know it is the 'z' axis, but I don't know if my other nomenclature is correct...

    1978 Enco GL-30B Milling/Drilling machine

Thanks again for the thoughts Larry. After grinding 2 of 11 collets to fit (I'm good on a grinder), I found some 240 grit emery cloth, wrapped it around a piece of 1/2" pvc, and honed the inside of spindle with it running. I did this a few times, and now they all fit! The tolerance preventing...

    1978 Enco GL-30B Milling/Drilling machine

Hello, I just inherited this Enco GL-30B circa '78 mill. Is the R8 collet the correct size for this model? Because the new R8's I bought don't fit.....the (OD) are 0.010 larger than one original that came with it. That is: .950 vs .940". I was also surprised the draw bar is a standard...
