Where to start with half built garage? So many Questions!

Thanks!. There is all kinds of different sidings used, but mostly the same as I see everywhere. Less stucco. I do plan on the man door being the only way in. (reminds me I need to order a couple more element 90 extinguishers). Big swing doors instead of rolling barn doors might be easier to...

Where to start with half built garage? So many Questions!

It's a 9'6" tall door. I never figured a roll up would be cheap, mostly because I always assumed I would need to hire the install out, and having hired door people just for a service, they really make their money. lol. But you are right, thinking now to build out a proper barn door it's an easy...

Where to start with half built garage? So many Questions!

Just bought a new to me place on Vancouver Island. It has a garage started, but needs a lot. The more I spend on the garage, the less I have for my solar and house upgrades, so trying to keep it on a budget, but can spend when it makes sense. It has a great foundation, and stays dry inside...

    Running romex in C-Purlin.

Single conductor insulation types. The two most common.

    Running romex in C-Purlin.

You know I see people say that all the time. But having pulled MILES and MILES of solid and stranded I would pull solid all day every day over stranded. And I would pull T90 over RW90 all day long.

Removing rust from chain vise grips?

As much as I would love to make sure they never get wet or rust it's just not in the cards. I use them outside in all weather for my work. I'll have to try and find some T9, I had been using some wax spray stuff, but it makes everything nasty. Would cold blue work to hold off rust for a while...

Removing rust from chain vise grips?

I have several chain vice grips, and they all have rust on the chains. I used some rust remover stuff for one pair a while ago, and it worked like a hot damn, but they have since become the rustiest pair by a long shot. So I guess I need to know how to remove the rust, and then not have it...

    Desktop CNC mill/router?

I would love water jet, but $$$ I didn't realize aluminium was so expensive, I was only thinking Al because it's easier than steel to machine. Need them to be 3"x3" I tried to weld it up with steel, but I don't have a way to make the subtle bends and using just straight pieces it just didn't...

Why are titanium tools so expensive?

Any bike can be as "soft" or "hard" as the designer wants it to be. Steel bikes in my experience are "more whippy" than titanium. Carbon Fiber is certainly the most rigid I have ridden, then titanium, then aluminium, then steel. Titanium has a more natural "dampening" of sorts so is more...

    Desktop CNC mill/router?

While I would love to get a 4 or 5 axis, I do understand that a cnc router is probably good enough for me. But I wanted more if it was possible. I want to be able to make aluminium brackets similar to this...

    7 1/4" Metal Cutting Blade

That is really fast for not abrasive blade. I've only ever used carbide metal cutting blades that are rated to a max of 1600 rpm. I hardly like using the 1200 rpm specially made metal cutting skill saws. I will cut aluminium with a 5000 rpm aluminium cutting blade without issue though.

    7 1/4" Metal Cutting Blade

Using a metal cutting blade in a saw that spins twice as fast as the blade is designed is asking to get hurt. But good luck.

Battery Powered Chainsaws? Your Opinions Please

The batteries are expensive, and you really need to have a reason to go electric over gas. Torque, the electric will DESTROY the gas, over double the tq and it's all instant. I used a dewalt 40v vs a Huqvana 550xp and the dewalt was far nicer to use and had more power. And you could get the...

    Desktop CNC mill/router?

I am looking for a CNC mill, and am budget conscience. I'd really love 4 or 5 axis, but I realize that 3 is really the only cost effective answer. I NEED to be able to do aluminium at least 3/4" thick. And would like to do thin stainless, like 1mm thick, basically enough to hold it's own...
