Infloor Heat $10k too much for 44x48

It's really not fair to say the radiant heat is going to be 25 % of your building cost. I assume you were planning to put a concrete slab in regardless of if you were using radiant heat or some other source. What's the breakdown of slab cost vs the radiant specific stuff. I think I paid about...

    hydronic heat = heat rises?

Mine is close to 20' to the peak. I've put digital thermometers at various heights and found it to a couple degrees cooler at the top vs down low. You don't need or want to use a ceiling fan with radiant floor heat. The beauty of a radiant floor is that it keeps the heat down low. I keep mine...

Best Radiant Foil on Market ???

I didn't buy a kit, I had mine done by an installer. At the time, I priced out kits vs pro, and the kits wouldn't have saved me any money, so I hired it out. I used batts in the walls, but put up plastic sheeting on the bottoms of the rafters, then blew in fiberglass to fill the cavity under...

Best Radiant Foil on Market ???

That's what I did, 2" of spray foam and backed it up with fiberglass. Its the best of both worlds. You get a sealed up building with the foam, and once the air infiltration is stopped, the fiberglass is much more effective. If I had to do it over again, I probably wouldve just got 1" of closed...

    Got my first propane bill

Wow, they just topped off our tank a few days ago for $1.70. We've had pretty mild winter, so the demand is low, but I don't think we've ever paid much more than $2. We've had it as low as $1.50 in the last 3 years we've lived here.

Car build for NHRA - class?

Ok, i found the class you're looking at in the rule book. Just so you know, Class racing is extremely expensive, requiring extensive travel to the various divisional and national meets. Depending on where you live you might have a couple of meets per year in your area, with the rest requiring...

Car build for NHRA - class?

I may be wrong, but i don't think altered and street roadster are classes, just styles of cars. Actual NHRA Class racing (such as super stock) only exists at certain tracks throughout the country, and can be a very expensive hobby, requiring extensive travel. If your buddy is just planning to...

    Menards Dusk to Dawn lights

Turned out to be the bulb. Got a new one and we'll see how long this one lasts. I still have the HPS light sitting there in the box. If I have any more problems with the CFL any time soon, I'll just return it and put up the HPS.

    Menards Dusk to Dawn lights

Just looked outside and noticed my new light no longer works. Exactly 2 nights is what I got out of it. Tomorrow I'll have to determine if it's the bulb or fixture. The orange glow of the HPS is starting to look more appealing than fixing the CFL every few days. Glad I didn't return the HPS yet.

    Menards Dusk to Dawn lights

Well, I decided to try the CFL. Installed it this afternoon and it turned on about an hour and a half ago as it was getting dark. Looks nice, very clean "white" light. Much better than the neighbors yellow/orangish outdoor light. I hope I have good luck with bulb life, as some of the others...

    Menards Dusk to Dawn lights

Thanks Gary, sounds like a real ****-shoot on bulb life. Bulbs are only $10, so I guess I have to weigh out bulb replacement cost over electicity savings if I decide to keep the CF. I know the white light would look a lot better than the orange of the HPS. Anyone else have experience with CF...

    Menards Dusk to Dawn lights

Menards had a sale last week on high pressure sodium ($40 after rebate) and compact fluorescent ($25) dusk to dawn lights. They were out of the HPS, but I got a rain check and I bought the CF too as it was the last day of the sale. Just need to decide which one to use and which to return. I had...

Falsely accused of running a business, may need to remove hoist – Help!

Sorry, I should have noted that I did not identify the friend or his location. Nothing in the pictures would lead them to the location. They're not "going after" random people. "Someone" filed a complaint against me, so they investigated. No one has complained about my friend. I won't identify...

Falsely accused of running a business, may need to remove hoist – Help!

Here’s an update: I just spoke with the county inspector today. He came to my garage a few weeks ago and I let him look around inside. He was very appreciative of my cooperation. I asked what his thoughts were on the hoist/lift. After seeing my cars, he understands why I would want/need the...

Falsely accused of running a business, may need to remove hoist – Help!

Thanks Tyrell, I've been meaning to contact Bendbak to see if they could offer any advice. The pics on the link are exactly the type of thing I'm looking for. I will be downloading some pics from this forum as well. I was at a local car event last Tuesday night and mentioned the problem to a...
