    I forgot how much I love Rain-X

I did an experiment a few years ago; one car got Rain-X, the other Aquapel. And now I forgot which car has which. I want to strip one car and start over. What's the best way to do this? Just window cleaner? Alcohol? Clay bar? I found that both worked well but that Aquapel seemed to require...

Wiring question for LED flat panels

I'm doing basically the same build (no build thread yet) and used everything in this thread to get there. Your questions were very specific and thorough. Mine is 24'x32'x10' with 9 of the 72w panels from LightUp. I used one of their 6a dimmers. These lights, dimmers and flush mount kits were...

    Lee Valley - Cobra Pliers

I just saw these come up again and I remembered this thread. They're even $3 cheaper, at $19.50. 10" and 7" this time, instead of 10" and 8". I still like the ones I got a couple years ago. Maybe these will still be around when free shipping comes back up.

    Surface mount LED

I put 5 of these in my 24'x24'x9' and they're great. I put them about 6' from each end, 2 in front, 3 in back, because that's where I need most of the light. I decided to forgo the middle row all together. I do have a huge window in the side wall though. Without the window, I think 3 rows, 2...

    Athol Vise Restoration

I finished my Athol 614 1/2. Pictures in the Vise Repair 101 thread.

VISE REPAIR 101 all vise repairs, lubricants, sources for parts and the tricks to fix

I finished an Athol 614 1/2. I did an electrolysis bath, wire wheel on the unpainted parts, rustoleum self etching primer and Duplicolor GM Light Blue Metallic paint, Johnson paste wax on the handle and unpainted parts and anti-seize on the screw.

    Installed an Eley Hose Reel

Those reels are so nice. I had a hard time with the $140, too. But it worked out so well that I got a second one for the back of the house. I've never even winterized them, although truth be told, it rarely gets below freezing here anyway.

    Tool cabinet build.

I like it! I need a way to wrangle my Stanley bin boxes. I'm thinking I may build one of these, but with a stationary shelf with an open back for my planer.

    Lee Valley - Cobra Pliers

Lee Valley is now selling NWS brand pliers. They're German made and it looks like they're priced a little less than Knipex. They look nice, but since I recently bought the pliers from upthread, I have no need. If anyone has them, I'm curious as to your opinion of their quality. Toolguyd says...

    Lee Valley - Cobra Pliers

Yes, they have the spring button, like Cobra pliers.

    Athol Vise Restoration

Oh, yes, I'm aware of Carla. I've been knee deep in the vise threads since I got this vise and her name is quite recurrent. She's why I'm on my way to go get some anti-seize right now. I just hope the other GJers don't find out that I didn't already have anti-seize on my shelf. :) And I did...

    Athol Vise Restoration

I got the notch pipe made from a piece of PVC. So far, WD-40 and several hits with the BFH have not moved the pin. How much resistance can I expect? The pin is kind of mushrooming.

    Athol Vise Restoration

How does one remove the spindle from the vise? A 614 1/2 was recently given to me and it certainly needs restoration. I have the jaws separated, and was able to pound out the pin holding the nut in the static jaw. I just can't figure out how to get the screw out of the slider. Looks like...
