Ever do something so stupid you wonder if you should be left unsupervised?

The flight crew were fine and pay protected per their contract. There wasn't any action against me from the FAA nor the airline. Basically it came down to "*******, don't do that again". I was lucky I didn't get a letter in my file from the FAA or at least a write up from the airline.

Speed Handles --- What They Good For?

I use a 1/4 dr for hubcaps when doing wheel/tire assembly changes and running down fasteners on fuel tank access panels before torquing. I use a 3/8 dr for stubborn panel screws with a dab of valve grinding compound on the apex bit. Not many guys here use them, it's mainly us older guys.

Ever do something so stupid you wonder if you should be left unsupervised?

No, the mechanic in Newark thought the soaking wet APU and inside the tail cone was de-icing fluid. It was a fuel leak. How it did not catch fire externally is a miracle to me.

Ever do something so stupid you wonder if you should be left unsupervised?

We had a turn flight from Newark come in with the APU on deferral. It shut down when they were de-icing the plane in Newark. I had about an hour ground time with it before they wanted to board passengers. Maintenance control called me and asked me to try to start it as the mechanic in Newark...

Ever do something so stupid you wonder if you should be left unsupervised?

I did not lock out / tag out a fuel boost pump circuit breaker one night changing a fuel filter on a plane. Filter and bowl off, then it suddenly went into fire hose mode of Jet A. Myself and everything around me was covered in jet fuel. I had power off of the plane, but a coworker had turned on...

I am going broke buying duplicates of tools

I have at least 4 caulking guns. Every time I need one, they are nowhere to be found. I finally got a cardboard box and wrote "caulking guns" on the outside of it. I'm not 100% sure where I put that box though.

Torque Adapter Set - Please Reply with Data if you own a set!

In aviation, almost everything has a torque spec and when you start getting into flight controls, hydraulic actuators, and power control units, it gets tight and there simply isn't room for regular sockets. Ugga duggas and calibrated elbows are not advised nor is it permitted for good reasons...

Snap On FTA35 3/8 torque adapter and a FRESL18 9/16 low profile torque adapter. More than I wanted to pay, but if you need it, you need it and couldn't find any on ebay.

Snap On Nano Axcess - Alternatives?

I was in Walmart and remembered this thread and well, it influenced me to pick this up. Hart model HFSD02, 4V usb-c rechargeable from Walmart. 250 rpm and nothing in the manual on torque output. A Google search claims it to produce 95 in lb of torque. I have not yet played with it, but the darn...

I have not tried it yet, but it seems well built. It is magnetic but also has the locking collar and holds the bit firmly. I don't think it is gimmicky and can see situations where it will be useful. Again, I haven't used it yet, but I'm happy with the purchase so far. The second collar locks...

Picked up a five pack of 1/4 inch bit swivel adapters. Should come in handy for awkward places with limited access.
