2 post lift won't go down the last 4-5 inches

Guess I shouldn't feel bad missing this when others are struggling to see the issue that I circled. Overview of the area Before when the cable position was bad After with the cable in the right spot

Totally understand. I'm fairly new here but if I was really worried about getting made fun of, I wouldn't have posted my fix. Thanks for all the help.

2 post lift won't go down the last 4-5 inches

I knew someone would say this... It's not like I ignored this advice. I looked everywhere for a kink, cross, bind, missed pulley, etc. I've had my face and arms in that carrier so many times too. There's probably 6" of the carrier that is too dark to see it get a hand into so when looking down...

The cable is supposed to be inside of the carrier strap so when it goes into the pulley below it's straight. As such, the cable ended up getting pinched by the lift coming down which is why the cable had to be adjusted so loosely to make it go down and that was because the cable effectively...

2 post lift won't go down the last 4-5 inches

Ok I finally got it figured out. I checked over the cables so many times but missed this down inside the carrier. It's dark inside there and it's hard to see it without really good light. I was trying to remove the two cables to make sure they were the same length and I basically only found it...

2 post lift won't go down the last 4-5 inches

I haven't stood on the top of the ram but have considered it. I can bounce it by pulling on the chain which does make me think there is air in there. I have cracked the lower fitting loose on both rams but didn't let a ton of fluid out since I was more checking for air. I guess I could put a...

Well I filled the tank with what I pulled out when reinstalling it. The reservoir is probably 3/4 - 7/8 full right now. I may need to add a quart but I lost about a quart when taking the lift down since a lot of the fluid in the lines and cylinders were lost.

I can see the rams and they are 2-3" shy of bottoming out. They were 5-6" short of bottoming out prior to loosening the cable. There are no bleeders on these rams.

The cables are absolutely routed properly. I saw somewhere that the way to bleed the air out of these lifts was to raise them all the way to the top and then lower them again so I'll try that later today. It's a 12ft tall lift and I've never raised it to the top. If the rams still won't go all...

Yep...all of the pulleys are the same and spin freely. The cables are run the same way on both sides. I did go check the top bar and everything looks normal. The only other thing I can think of is still related to the rams. They aren't bottoming out and I can't figure out how to bleed them...

2 post lift won't go down the last 4-5 inches

So here's what I've found this morning... The rams don't appear to be the cause of this at all. The cables are the problem and it's one cable in particular. I've been able to get the lift all the way down but I have another problem now. Cable 1 that is adjusted on the power side has always been...

2 post lift won't go down the last 4-5 inches

Do you think loosening them 1/2"-1" would allow it drop down? I can pinch them the cables together so they're maybe 1/2" from touching right now. No idea but since the top bar is a fixed length, the only way for that to happen is if he had the posts not level. I didn't mark the cables where...

2 post lift won't go down the last 4-5 inches

Thanks. It's Eagle Supreme Seal and I'm loving it so far but time will tell if it holds up to heat and welding. Unless the ram is sticking, I feel like this is the only other possibility but I honestly am not sure what to look for. My understanding is that the cables are there to ensure they...

2 post lift won't go down the last 4-5 inches

I have a 2 post lift that I got courtesy of a friend but for some reason it is not going all the way down and I honestly have no idea who made this lift. We took it down and confirmed everything worked before we did. It's been probably 3-4 months since we took it down but I finally got the new...

    To insulate or not

Ok so I'll stand by the original assessment of insulation is a "must do". However, I do think that most of the people recommending the DIY fiberglass insulation route have wood frame buildings and conventional roof trusses where standard insulation at Lowes or Home Depot along with ceilings are...
